After coming to an agreement in December last year for the acquisition of up to 50 E190 E-jets, the Chinese NDRC has approved the purchase of the first five aircraft and should approve the other 45 aircraft soon it is being reported, though this has yet to be confirmed on the Embraer website. The purchase of these aircraft is for them to compete against Grand China Express which currently has an order for 50 E190's. Delivery of the first Kunpeng aircraft is due late August.
