It's always nice to see pictures here before my own company shows them to us! AA Corporate Communications is always behind this forum.
I thought I read that the 767 winglets were 11 feet high, but it looks much taller. Now if they could just deep-clean the interiors of these planes! I just worked aboard a 767 this week and it was foul.

Quoting 1337Delta764 (Reply 7): Yes, Delta will be receiving winglets on 30 763ERs.
Sounds good.
Not on their 764ERs? They are currently doing their ATL-CPH with a 764 during the summer but from what I heard the route are doing really well so maybe they will make it permanently 764ER. At least some time in the future.

The 764ER has raked wingtips, which provide similar functionality to winglets. Adding winglets to the 764ER wouldn't really help much.

This is true...similar to those on the 777LR and 777F.

How long as ship 389 been out of service? I'm curious to hear how much of the installation process is consumed by reinforcing the inner structure of the wings before the winglet actually goes on. Can anyone put it into perspective for me?
DUALRATED: Thats bad ass AMR! time to start sav'in
KochamLOT: The best aircraft in the world, just got better! One day, I hope to fly this beauteus aircraft --- With whats going on right now though, its sad it se
PPVRA: That is so weird! A 767 with winglets! I like it though, but still have to get used to it.
LHboyatDTW: Sadly enough I mistook it for a 757 at first. I think I am going to hide in my box for now.
Dampfnudel: Will CO add winglets to their 767-200ERs ?
CFMitch56: Excellent details Nwab787techops. Thanks!! Anyone know why the 737 classics are cheaper to retrofit? Are the winglets the same size as the NG 737s or
TristanHNL: I don't think CO has said anything regarding this matter, but it's certainly a possibility with the price of fuel so high and despite the possibility
Mir: The winglet looks amazing, but I wish AA could find someting a bit better to put on it. A web address just looks cheap. -Mir
AznCSA4QF744ER: Can somebody help me break down the height of these winglets? B737's and B757's Thanks,
Flynavy: APB has approached us (DL) and AA for 777-200ER winglet installations (full winglets, not the raked ones).
Ebs757: Man those look nice so far and they are Huge! Thanks for the pictures. Hopefully we see some full body shots soon
PlanesNTrains: My thought exactly. Considering that the majority of the folks on the plane or in a terminal have either already visited aa.com or can guess that tha
B747forever: Wow, would love to fly on that plane. The winglets are huge.
DocLightning: That looks amazing! How much does the assembly weigh?
Vasu: Doubt that this is the case... CO's 767-200s are relatively new aircraft (early '00s)
Flynavy: No doubt. For some strange reason, people like to associate the 767-200 with "old" - despite the fact, as you mentioned, these aircraft are newer tha
JFKTOWERFAN: http://www.aviationpartnersboeing.com/products/index.html Looks like for the 737NG and the 752 the height is the same. Corey
Oykie: Why? It should improve fuel efficiency, and at current oilprice, it should ofset the cost quite fast.
Vasu: Is there a difficulty in getting them certified on -200s?
Nycbjr: man thats mighty purdy.. can't wait to see them on DL 767's..
Mirrodie: I was thinking the same. I think we'll soon see a thread in tech/ops that highlights the pros/cons, cost/benefit ratio.
Brendows: I see a few reasons: - the remaining life of these frames (the youngest of AA's frames are 20 1/2 years old.) - there are far fewer -200ERs out on th
Andz: Not according to the link you provided, there is quite a difference between 3.4m and 2.49m
7gm7: My sentiments exactly. Will take some getting used to, but certainly do like it though!
Albird87: Agreed! However what else could AA put on? I suppose the Logo of the Eagle would look prety sweet on the winglets!
MAN23R: it looks like a fat boy trying to be cool . ha
RobK: Suggest you buy some reading glasses then! 752 = 8' 2" tall 737 = 8' 2" tall 738 = 8' 2" tall 763ER = 11' tall R
Andz: Guess I was looking thru the wrong part of my multifocals.
UAL747: Now we just need a front and rear spoiler, the landing gear lowered, and some spinners. Would look quite nice IMO. APB could be the official cusomizat
RobK: Don't forget the straight-through stainless exhaust, blacked out windows and banging tunes too! R
Mexicana757: Those winglets look nice. Can't wait to see AA 763s at ORD. I think you can come out of your box.
Idlewild: Does anyone have a picture of the B-742 they slapped blended winglets on? They looked about as tall as a NYC brownstone.
PRAirbus: Fellow forum member AAer, mentioned some AA 763 interiors are dirty...they'll get dirtier when the 763's start flying day-time turns from JFK to PAP,
AmricanShamrok: I've never been a big fan of winglets on 737s & 757s. These are the same - I like the Airbus ones and 747 ones but not these. They just don't "fit in"
Mir: Probably because the days of the 767-200s at AA are numbered. -Mir
B747forever: Wow, didnt know that they had winglets on the 742. Would love to see how that looked
Propjett: Not difficult at all to discerne the size of that winglet. Look at the men putting it on, standing there with it. Pretty easy to define the size for
Propjett: American plans to install winglets on its entire fleet of 58 767-300ER aircraft, saving at least 290,000 gallons of fuel per aircraft per year. Americ
B747forever: Jeez, that winglets looks way to big. How tall are they??? However, thanks for the pic.
CanadianNorth: Looks good. Anyone know what happened to the idea of Air Canada getting some for their 767s? CanadianNorth[Edited 2008-07-12 12:54:20]
TristanHNL: Yes, CO's 762's are very young. I never said they were old. However even before oil hit $130+ per barrel CO was already thinking about retiring them
SeaBosDca: Heresy! The wingletted 737-700 and 757-200 are two of commercial aviation's hot rods. And they look it... something about both planes strikes me as d
FlyLKU: How about winglets on A model 777's. I wonder if they might make airlines think twice about getting rid of them? From what I have read about winglets
Valleyspotter: Does anybody know when she is due to fly for the first time with the winglet's ??
Icebird757: Here is the first winglet bird way back in the 1970's:
UAL747: I don't know if they can fly far enough for the winglets to actually make a difference. The 763ER even trumps the 77A when it comes to range. UAL
2H4: Well-designed winglets also offer improved takeoff performance, though, as well as higher initial cruise altitudes. You needn't fly far for winglets
SYfan100: Whoever allowed these pics to be taken should get a huge THANK YOU! It is a good learning experience to see how a winglet gets put on like these pict
RJ_Delta: LAN Airlines will install the blended winglets in part of its B763/B763F in November 2008. Saludos,
SCL767: Great news for LAN. Can't wait to the LAN 767's with winglets!
AAden: I think it's just me, but I much prefer the look of a wing without winglets on the boeings. does anyone know when the entire fleet will be completed?
AmericanB763ER: Man those winglets are massive! Can't wait to see a pic of the whole thing in the air. Just imagine what these would look like with a pair of winglets
UAL747: They will Increase the wingspan by 10ft 9 in. per APB wesbite. UAL[Edited 2008-07-13 06:18:21]
ZANL188: Makes it a bigger target that's for sure.. I can't help but notice with the proliferation of winglet equipped aircraft that there seems to have been

OyKIE: I hope so Do you happen to now when they are numbered? I haven't heard anything about decisions about retirement date. IIRC SAS used the same argumen
DocLightning: Ouch. Those never go well. And in the long history of fights between aircraft and snowplows, the plows have yet to lose.
UAL747: I dunno DocLightning, I think even though this winglet is damaged a little, it pretty much took out that truck! Winglet 1, Truck 0 UAL
CFMitch56: On top of being young planes with the performance improvement package, might these birds be even more attractive for resale or freighter conversion i
Viscount724: However, the snowplow driver sometimes loses. An Ozark DC-9-30 hit a snowplow landing at FSD in 1983, killing the driver. http://www.ntsb.gov/ntsb/br
ER757: Agreed - they should have put the Eagle on there instead! Oh well, what do I know? I guess that's why I'm not in the marketing dept at my company. St
