Anyone know if the airlines that serve IND will operate a full schedule on the eve of moving into the new termianl? Or will there be a reduce schedule to allow employees to make the big move? All flights will have to go into the old terminal then all the aircraft will have to be re-positioned to the new terminal. I don't see the pilots sticking around to either taxi or break ride the planes after arrival as they will need to get to their hotels to rest for the next morning departures.

Quoting N328KF (Reply 2):
Why? They did it with DEN...after the last flight, there was a huge escorted convoy of every sort of airport-related vehicle from one airport to the other, and that wasn't even the same airport.
What do you mean, "Why?" Because how often do you see that? I'm sure such an event is very few and far between. I know I've never witnessed such a thing.

I'm sure it was an awesome site seeing that convoy on the roadways from Stapleton to DIA. I imagine in IND's case, the runways and taxiways will have to be closed in order for their move to take place as I don't think there is a service road from the old terminal to the new one.
I believe October, but Im sure someone can give the exact date.
I would think the shift would impact FX operations more than pax ops... if any impact at all. To move everything you will need to cross the crosswind runway and some of the taxi ways leading to 5L/23R... but there should be no impact on 5R/23L so there might not be any impact at all. I think just the ground crews are just going to work some overtime that night... you could use the tugs to tow the planes over. The bigger problem I could see would be for the vendors to make the move. Although I suppose you stock the stores/ restaurants in the new terminal in advance and then rotate in the stock/ food from the old terminal.
