Got his from todays news on www.airlinersonline.com:
"Condor (Frankfurt) is expected to start replacing most of their Boeing 757-200/-300s with Airbus A330s. Up to three 757-300s may be operated for Lufthansa in partial LH colors next winter."
Seems I was not the only one to complain about the 757-300 being only a half-hearted replacement of the DC-10.

Great news - the last Airbus LH doesn´t have finally to join the fleet.
Might this be the 330-300 LTU is currently replacing with 330-200s?
Does "next winter" mean "this winter" or "next year´s winter"?

Notice that the report said Condor will be replacing "most" of thier 757s, not all, with the 330. This is a very big suprise, seeing Condor was very interested in the 764LR program. I guess Condor just can not wait until the time Boeing starts producing the 764LR. Well, anyway, Condor will be another boring A330 charter operator.

LH ain't gonna replace a widebody with a 757. Maybe temporarily but they'll eventually buy the A330 - all their crews are trained on the Airbus cockpit, mechanics, spares etc are all already in place because of the huge A340 fleet.
The 757-300 may be OK for charter operators but LH are a business airline and their clients won't take kindly to the 757-300.
fly Saha Air 707s daily from Tehran's downtown Mehrabad to Mashhad, Kish Island and Ahwaz

Cedarjet, I don't know where you are coming from. LH has been very pleased with the 753s perfprmance on thier routes. I would not be suprised at all if LH decides to go along with it. Look at NW, they are a major airline and are replacing domestic DC-10s with 753s. I would not be suprised at all if LH decided to order 753s.

will, this seems very, very weird to me.
condor has been very happy with its 757 fleet, especially the 757-300s, which they always operated with about 99% reliability.
if this turns out to become reality, keep in mind that the article only said "is expected...", i assume, they´ll go for the a-330-200. last summer, i flew on condor from FRA to CUN and i had a little chat with the captain and i asked him about the condor fleet plans and especially if condor considered the 767-400. referring to the DC-10s condor used to operate, he told me that condor is highly unlikely to get bigger planes than their 767-300s because bigger planes are harder to fill in winter, and that´s why they replaced the dc-10s with 753s. however, this could have changed though
nonetheless, i don´t think they´ll get the a-330-300 because that´s really a big bird, and even LTU has trouble to get them filled.
assuming they go for the a-330-200, i´m wondering what this will mean for the 767-300s.
if anyone had asked me earlier about DE getting the 332s, i would have assumed they´d replace their 763s, not the 757s, and now this, well, this really puzzles me.
ok, whatever it turns out to be, i´m sure they´ll retain a major number of 757s because the 332 still is quite a big bird.
we´ll see, what happens...
If only pure sweetness was offered, why's this bitter taste left in my mouth.

I am sure I read somewhere that LH were not satisfied with the performance of the 753 after their trial period as boarding times and turnaround were too long for inter european and domestic flights.
The C+N group which partly owns Condor are unlikely to replace their new 757-300's with A330's. The newly enlarged group including Britannia are firmly behinf the 767. I will need to see it to believe it.

Sorry I just remembered Britannia is not part of the C+N group ( that was the failed take-over) it is actually JMC that is part of the group , who have just placed an order for new 757-300's making it unlikely for the rest of the group to be getting rid of theirs. However JMC are rumoures to be getting, or may even have ordered, A330's in keeping with other British charter airlines, which may tie with this news story.
In other words, I don't really know what will happen, but it will be interesting to see.
