I'd heard that a DL MD-88 enroute to MIA was forced to divert to Stuart, FL (SUA) today due to weather and low fuel reserves. Passengers were supposedly bused back to MIA. Anyone have any further info or video on this? I'm really surprised it diverted to SUA rather than Ft. Pierce(FPR), which has a much more suitable runway. Why didn't it go to PBI, for that matter??

Actually, it was a Delta Connection CRJ-900. Comair flight 1481 (JFK-MIA)

The longest runway there is only 5826 X 100 ft.
Last year 1,944 New Yorkers saw something and said something.

5,826 feet is plenty of length to land that airplane. They land the CR7 at EYW and it only has about 4,900 feet. FPR has an ILS and about 6,500 feet or so on 9-27 but it would have added some time to the bus trip to MIA.
The real issue is going to be the NIMBYS taking pictures of the new "airline service" at SUA and using it to further their cause to close the airport. The manager once reported that the appearence of a Delta Air Elite Charter caused an uproar so this must have really been interesting.
