No Aerolineas Argentinas Flights Bookable?

I couldn’t find this under any topic, so I am hoping there will be someone in the Airliners community who knows a bit more about this!

No Aerolineas Argentinas flights are appearing in Amadeus here in the UK, nor are they bookable through their international website. The Argentinean version of the site is the only one that works, but the fares quoted there are only available for Argentinean residents.

I spoke to the AR office in London yesterday and they told me it is a technical glitch and that it will be corrected, but it seems to be going for almost a week now. As I understand it, no one from outside Argentina is able to book any of their flights! Please correct me if I am wrong.

We all know what a difficult time AR are having at the moment – I wonder whether the ‘nationalization’ and this are connected in any way? Or is it really a technical problem and no one can be bothered to deal with it?

I have a growing pile of ticketing requests from my colleagues on AR (I am the AR expert here  Smile) and I don’t know what to do with them!

No technical glitch. AR failed to pay Amadeus last month therefore their direct access (real-time AD/Reservation) has been cut off. I don't know if this has been put back up to normal.

It's weird this happens, as the GDS used in the website is Amadeus.

Do you have any computer with SABRE? I think you can do it there.

Saludos!

It hurts to say this, but considering what's going on right now, I'd book them on another carrier
 Sad

here's a possibly related link to another ongoing thread about AR:

Did you consider there's no other possibility in domestic flights?  Smile

Thanks MD11junkie!

That was one of the reasons I thought of, but immediately rejected it. They wouldn’t be as stupid as to cut off their revenue stream from Amadeus agents and pretty much disable their websites, I thought… Oh well, anything can happen at AR nowadays, it seems! In-flight movies first, then GDSs and what’s next?

No Sabre here I am afraid, we have been convinced by the efficiency and ease of use of Amadeus so we got rid of Sabre and Galileo.

Well, GDSs are not cut off by the company's decision, just lack of funds. IFE was a cost saving move, though.

I'm sure Amadeus will be brought back up soon. SABRE is still on a "exclusivity" contract through this year (last one), so I believe they'll fully turn back to Amadeus.

In my opinion, SABRE is crap.

Thank you for that Smile. Indeed, no flights on Amadeus at all to, for example, FTE, USH or AFA...

yes  I'm using SABRE here, and It is letting me book AR flights as normal.

Don't expect to see me around that much (if at all) -- the contact link should still work, though.

Gracias mi Carmencita! Big grin

You should just confirmed what's really happening - there's no mirroring because there hasn't been any payments.  Smile

What a shame.

I'm also using Sabre, no problems with AR availability or ticketing!

Well, that's a matter of opinion  Wink. But there are many things that I prefer about Amadeus also. I've been lobbying my boss for full Amadeus access for two years now, but still no dice, even though we could access so many more airlines with it!  irked
