Does anyone know anything about an Italian airline named Meridiana? I'm not certain if that spelling is correct or not. In any case, was wondering how large it is, what type of aircraft, and how long they've been in business. And of course if they've had any safety issues.

they´ve got several BAe-146s, and at least they once had Md-80s (don´t know which types exactly), and could still have some of these, don´t know for certain.
afaik, they have major services out of florence, because the AZ mainline fleet is to big for FLR (very short runway). however, they´re not partners.
think they´re doing mainly domestic flying, have never seen them in germany.
some months ago, it was reported that air france was interested in getting a stake in them, however, no deal has been come to an end, and AF is currently talking with AZ.
well, i´m not sure if all of this is correct. so if anyone has corrections to make or anything to add, please go ahead!
