There have been rumors for some time about the interest from TACA to start serving ASU. Now, the president of TACA, Daniel Ratti, is coming to Asunción to continue with the negotiations.
Let's see what happens, really interesting news for ASU. Article

TACA will commence to take delivery of their eleven E90s fleet shortly.
They have announced that six of them will be based at LIM.
If they materialize this subject, the 100-seater E90 seems to be the suitable plane to cover LIM-ASU.
Regards.

Quoting PZ707 (Reply 1): As far as i know JJ will start GRU-LIM.
TAM will start operating LIM nonstop and already has a full codeshare agreement with LA 10 weekly GRU-LIM. This will ensure the smooth connection from ASU to LIM and will make TA work more difficult. I really dont have hopes for TA in ASU.

The E90 would have the autonomy to fly the 1,600 miles of LIM-ASU which is about the same mileage of the CM-operated E90 running PTY-MAO.

Quoting Juanchito (Reply 3): I agree with SJOtoLIR, I think they could start 4 weekly or even daily, remember lot of conection in LIM.
I also agree. It's not going to be a cash-cow for TA but I don't think TA's CEO would go to ASU just to "hang out" over there. So it must be attractive for TA in some way.

I agree with you, I don't see TA's CEO coming to ASU for no reason... and flying TA thru LIM could be a great alternative to fly to the US from ASU.
What parameters does this award take into account?? From my experience, SCL is much nicer than EZE in almost all aspects, but that is just my opinion from my experiences...

So, here's another update.
TA's CEO in Peru has announced they're expecting to being with the LIM-ASU route on November 15th flying 3 to 4 times weekly. Although it is not official yet (there's still some bureaucratic work pending) he said they will make the final decision in about two weeks from now...

The news was also today in Paraguay's newspapers. TACA will evaluate two alternatives, one LIM-VVI-ASU, and the the other one LIM-ASU-MVD. Here is the link: TACA TO BEGIN SERVICE TO ASU IN NOVEMBER
Afther speaking with the elected president of Paraguay, Fernando Lugo, TACA's CEO, Daniel Ratti announced that TACA is interested in connecting ASU with LIM, starting November 15th. The flight will leave ASU at 7:00 am arriving to LIM at 9:00.

Interesting, however TA is already serving MVD daily with good load factors around 75% so I don't see why add ASU on the MVD service.... but I could see VVI since its on they way up to LIM.

TA LIM-ASU-MVD might undermine the service aiming to Uruguay.
It also should be noted that the intended pattern will not properly timed at the evening bank out of LIM, regarding the layover at MVD which is established at two hours.
The point is that there is not enough time to allow the stopover at ASU:
TA 41........LIM 21:50.........MVD 04:15
TA 40........MVD 06:20.......LIM 09:35
.

TA LIM-VVI is currently being combined with TA LIM-LPB-VVI and the possible TA LIM-VVI-ASU might be scheduled in the evening bank out of LIM.

Yes I noticed, didn't they announce daily beginning July 2nd?
Correct.
Nonetheless, TA has faced some troubles lately and related to the crash of its Airbus 320 registered as EI-TAF in Tegucigalpa, Honduras on May 30th.
