The first of the fleet swap of aircraft for the AA and American Eagle fleet has begun today with the arrival of an AE ATR-72 from San Jaun, PR. AE is to begin retiring the Saab SF-340Bs and EMB-135s "soon".
This is not the first time ATRs have been assigned to DFW. About 8 years ago, both AE and ASA (commuter for DL) flew ATR-72s and AE also had ATR-42s at DFW.

Just saw it sitting next to the spares in "Saab Land". Looks great!

THAT wasn't the first time, either.
In the early 1990s, you could see dozens of baguettes, both short and long, lined up at the commuter area of 2E... or was it 3E? No, I think it was 2E.
Always tried to non-rev on one, as dad worked for AA at the time, but it never ended up working out.
