Per the topic, does anyone know what names have been allocated to the initial QF A380 fleet. We all know that VH-OQA will be Nancy Bird Walton, but have any names been assigned to 'OQB and 'OQC?

I'm sure they've been assigned, but I haven't seen any of them listed anywhere. I imagine we'll find out pretty soon, considering they're due within the next couple of months.
I choose to fly oneworld, as a member of Qantas Frequent Flyer.

Quoting MadameConcorde (Reply 4): I wonder who they will name the next ones after? Queen Elizabeth II? She is also the Queen of Australia it seems.
Not sure about that one lol, I believe that the entire A380 fleet will all be named after Australian aviation pioneers. Nancy Bird Walton was on one of the promotional flights out of Sydney on the A380 she seemed like a delightful lady, and very honoured by the occasion, it's nice to see us remember more than sports stars occasionally.
I also doubt good old Lizzie will be our head of state for the life of the A380 (and renaming an aircraft I would presume is equally bad luck as a ship lol ) , but that is far from relevant here ; )

What do you mean? Australia is not a republic it seems, it is still part of the British Crown. I never knew of your President, only of your Prime Minister.
Sorry for the slightly O/T answer but I had to answer this one!

Many of us would rather that Australia was a republic, but because the Queen and her representative, the Governor General, generally play an insignificant role in day to day Australian politics, we often forget that she is our actual head of state.

Quoting JetMech (Reply 9): Bob Hawke
Ned Kelly
Chopper Read
Blinky Bill
Kath & Kim
Very funny but I think these are worth a mention:
City of The Recently Unemployed
City of Management Ineptitude
City of Screw the Workers
City of Singapore Maintenance Screw Ups
City of Fat Cat Management
City of Share Holder Rule
City of Share Dividends
I could go on but I think you get my drift.. I did spend over 10 years with them and it looks like it has got worse, not better...
A true shame to be sure OzTech. I only spent half the time there as you did, and the thin edge of the wedge was just starting to happen, namely, in the form of the Brisbane and Melbourne maintenance facilities that were meant for "overflow work only".

Quoting Allrite (Reply 16): Maybe they will name the A380's after great women in Australian aviation... like Margaret Jackson (VH-APA).
Perhaps they should reserve that name just in case QF decides to acquire a hot air balloon? Something about MJ and being full of hot air seems most appropriate .
I think an awesome name for one of QF's A380's would be Peter Garret. Much has been made of the bald sweeping forehead of the A380's upper nose contour. Kinda looks a bit like PG!
