I haven't seen anything on the OZ-US flights. Most everyone on a.net seems to report that the US-Europe routes are slated to get the initial refurbs although I think the justification can be made that OZ flights should get first priority if for no other reason than they're 14+ hours!

just recently flew in UA First from FRA-IAD... it was great. seats were wonderful AVOD tremendous, and had a delightful crew.
i was skeptical at first as to what would be the point in paying the difference in between their new C and F products... and I saw it. Much more personalized attention and better offerings in catering as opposed to C, and more personal space.

Quoting Ansett767 (Thread starter): I wanted to know if there are any dates proposed for the 744 fit out,
There are 3 744s with the new cabins already - 178, 181, 182 with 179 and 128 next in line.
Quoting Ansett767 (Thread starter): and when these go into operation on LAX and SFO to SYD service?
Have not seen or heard of anything related to Australia.
Besides the current FRA flying, the next focus of the 744 will be SFO-NRT which will see the new config daily later this summer.

But is it really worth about $5,000 more? That's the approximate fare difference between C and F IAD-FRA round trip on UA. And C is already hard to justify at close to $9,000 round trip.

Don't want to take out a second mortgage? Accrue and use your FF miles; that's what they're for (plan ahead, though).

i think that the people they are trying to cater to don't really care much about a $5,000 difference.

The companies, rather: most long-haul F flying is done on the corporate dime or with FF miles (accrued on the corporate dime).

Any idea when the ORD-NRT now daily 744 flight will get new config? My honeymoon is set for a December 7 departure on that flight.

are you in revenue management / market analysis?
didn't think so.
id like to see how many american based companies, with the current economic situation in the US are footing $14,000.00 r/t IAD-FRA.

LH417,
easy there.....ual has snagged some nice corporate contracts that in some cases requires their employees to fly on the "corporate dime" in F or J....motorola comes to mind.

Happy honeymoon - but my crystal ball does not go that far out --- neither does anyone's as UA!

Well there is no way to confirm it untill we get alot closer to departure, and even then if there is a mechanical you could get swapped to an old configuration aircraft but on December 7th the following 744 flights out of SFO are being sold/slated to operate with one of the newly configured aircraft.
SFO-FRA 900
SFO-NRT 837
SFO-HKG 839
Things can and will change between now and then but you have a shot at the new seats.

This list will grow by quite a bit by December but here is what UA has currently loaded as slated to operate with the new F/J seats. None of the newly reconfigured 777s have been loaded yet.

Thanks folks, I'll check in as we get closer to the travel date. I'm actually flying in F (mileage trip) but it looks like it's still definitely a step up from the existing old F seats.

A colleague of mine phoned me earlier this morning after he boarded the 955 to SFO today from LHR. He was in F on the newly configured 747 which was a complete surprise to him and me as we did not think that route was going to see the new config for some time. Needless to say he was extremely happy.
