Im doing some research into major airline disasters and im look for any sites with detailed information about this particular accident. Im a little suprised that there isnt more info around on this crash with it being the worst in aviation history.

Hi,
Air Disaster Volume 1 by Macarthur Job (Australian publication) has a 16 page detailed analysis of the crash.

Anybody know of any INTERNET sites that might have info on this collision?
What was the full story on that incident? Didn't the KLM 747 start its takeoff before the PanAm 747 had finished crossing the runway?

More than 22 years ago this topic might not so relevant for the Internet anymore. There has been extensive coverage by books already.
Interesting also that a similar type of crash nearly occured JFK 27th June 99 when a starting Icelandair B757 suddenly faced a B747 of Air France (Cargo) that crossed the runway. The Icelandair Pilot was able to lift off the 757 in time.

Go to www.airdisaster.com. Here you will find the CVR transcript of the incident plus other accidents like the TWA 800 and Swissair 111. They also have acutal voice recordings for some incidents. You should check it out. Its pretty good.
