Hi there to all

Yesturday I was on my way to fly home from HNL, and I knew it was going to be on a 757, but what I didnt know is that it was going to be on the only one in America Wests fleet that has winglets and a brand new interior. N908AW the former cardinals plane is this plane. It was very nice and clean inside the airplane, and it seemed to me that the winglets really do make a difference with how the plane flies, I noticed this mostly on take off, it seemed to get off the ground quicker.

When I went up to the flight deck after the flight, I asked him how long has this plane had the winglets installed, he said to me 4-5 months now. I said to him wow thats amazing, because I stay up to date with pictures and such of planes doing this and that, and this one has seemed to slip by.

So in the end, it was a very plesant surprise.

Here are some pics

The 757 is probably my favorite aircraft, and that is an especially good looking one. Thanks for putting that one on here, and that must have been a good flight, riding in the former Card's plane.

Those new seats are sweeeet. I think 910 is the only other west 757 right now that has the new interior.

I don't have photo's of the interiors but have seen photo's and it looks really nice. Evenutally I understand all US Mainline aircraft wll have new Leather interiors. I also understand all the former HP 757's that are ETOP's and used on routes to Hawaii will be getting winglets. There are also I believe 6 or 7 more original US 757's that will be getting ETOP's conversions including winglets.

Cheers

LGA777

Well all of the HP 757s are ETOPS, so I guess that means that all of them will eventually get them. I wish I had a pic of the interior, but I dont. It was really nice tho. First class had the wider seats of course, but the rest of the cabin had the all leather seats, very comfy, new carpet, the tvs were old.

Very nice flight, and crew.

Not quite, 913, 914 and 915 are non-ETOPS aircraft. From what I've heard, the only other two getting the winglet mod will be 909 and 910.

Yes, thats the pic I was looking for but did not get to get. LOL

It was very nice.

I have a question which is on a entirely different subject, do airlines recycle?

Like the soda cans, plastic?? If they dont, why not, it would be a very easy way to bring in a lot of money if they did.

In the photo it appears as though the shot was taken just fwd of the 2L and 2R doors looking aft. If this is correct it looks like first class is 3-3 seating. Am I looking at this correctly?

There are a couple of rows of economy before the first class section. If you could back up the camera you would see first class which is 2 - 2 seating.

Also I have some up close pictures of the winglets when they were new and shiny I will post when I get on my other computer.

OK thanks for the info! It is hard to imagine the 757 looking better than it already does, but the winglets do just that.

You are correct. If you look closley, you can see someone standing at the 3L/3R door with their back to the camera.

Here is a link to the seat map for US's (this version):

http://www.seatguru.com/airlines/US_...ys/US_Airways_Boeing_757-200_C.php

There is a lav at 2R.

Thank you! Good to see US keeping more F in these birds than their own. Will they also be reconfiguring the East birds to this configuration? It's sad to see just 8 F seats on such a large aircraft. This is in contrast to AA, who's adding 2 more F seats when they introduce their new 757 interiors later this year.

EDIT: Fixed a misunderstanding

why do we do things half ass? if they are going to update the cabins then do it all the way. the cabin dividers are not the newstyle dividers with the red white blue and swoosh on it like the 767's and the e-190's have. they did the same with the east etops 757's ,a330's,narrow body airbus and some 737's. they recovered the seats in blue leather but still left the old grey ,black, and white nasty looking cabin dividers.

913 and 915 are non ETOPS and NON EOW. 914AW is EOW ceritified. The west 757 have 14 first class seats. I was just on 908AW a couple days ago I did a Cabo turn on her. The new leather seats are cool. Some of are buses have the new leather to, plus they have new carpets too. I think 910 has the new carpet but I am not sure it has been awhile since I was on 910. They are slowly redoing the cabins. I have notice that they are painting the overheadbins.

NIce looking cabin.

Qucik question...for the 757's that are ETOPS, were these going to recieve AVOD for F and Y, or was that just something that I heard incorrectly.
Just wondering, I'm going to AUA on Friday on US and wanted to know, as I'm on a 757.

I was on 908 last Wednesday from HNL. It is a very comfortable aircraft to fly in, even for a 6 hour flight.

Nice Interior.... But is Continental and Delta the only airlines puting PTVs with AVOD in the cabin? Seems like AA/US/UA are just not interested...

As far as we know it will be installed on a few test 320's before going system wide, and that is not supposed to be until later this year or early next.

Awesome photo! Just convinces me more that traveling across the atlantic on a 757 is the way to go! Really....there is no diference except the illusion you are getting more space in a widebody. 757 would easily be my aircraft of choice.

It's ok to go off topic if it's your own post : ) Ever since I was a kid I seem to remember different bags for waste and cans...leads me to believe they recycle. I'm not conviced somebody goes down to the local mart and redeems them at 5cents a boot though.

Great post...nice to see an American with an interest in F1....hope your a Kimi fan.

I'm flying out on Flight 25 on 8/09 and returning on Flight 23 on 8/17. Will these planes have the new interior? I've never taken a 757 to HNL before and was initially concerned about the comfort level on this longer flight.
