1. I seem to recall that SAS at the end operated 23 airframes before it began to trash them in landing accidents. If the aircraft involved in those accidents cannot be re-marketed, 20 rather than 23 need to be placed.
As far as I know, 4 have been placed with MALEV, 6 with PAL Express, 2 with Nord-Flygg. Not sure how many Flybe will get, but a usually rather reliable fleet list mentions 4 (but only for 15 months as a step-gap measure). That would mean that 16 out of 20/23 have been placed. Any more takers I am not aware of?
2. I am wondering what kind of work is carried out on the retired SAS DHC8-Q400 before they are re-marketed / re-delivered to new customers. Apparently the landing gear will be taken care of, but what else? Are they getting completely refurbished or is it just a normal 2nd hand transaction and the purchaser does whatever work he feels is needed?
