Just ran across this item about the FAA using the web to recruit new air traffic controllers.

Daughter and I are heading out to tour the local ARTCC. She's interested in aviation but not being a pilot. TC

Take in a tour of the Towers/TRACONS as well if you have some close by.

So the video says they are especially targeting those 24 and under. What about those of us who are "base to final" for 30? I say this because I've already submitted my application and I'm currently waiting to see if I make it to the referral list.

Tell me this is for real...

In the early 90's I was enrolled and accepted to an ATC school (In Minnesota if I remember correctly) but the waiting list was so long for the actual ATC position that it wasnt worth the wait risk. I chose A&P school instead. Too bad this wasnt available 15 years ago!

I couldn't agree more!

If they are willing to hire "kids" right out of high school, what's wrong with those of us that are 30-35 who have had "real" job and life experience? And I may get slammed for this, but those in their early 30's are usually more mature than 18-24 year olds.

You need to be hired by your 31st birthday. This is due to the mandatory retirement of age 56; which would give you, at a minimum, 25 years of service.
