I have a question for all of you. If this has already been discussed, please forgive me, somehow I missed it. Yesterday my husband and I got back from Las Vegas. While we were there, we both noticed a 747 parked near the west side of the airport. No name on it and we could not get close enough to see the "N" number. The belly was blue (not blue like in a crayon box, but blue similar to turquoise), the top completely white, and there were two blue stripes on the tail. The stripes were not vertical or horizontal, but rather on the diagonal. Does anybody know anything about this plane? Thanks for any information you may have.

In addition to the 747SP, LV Sands also has a 767 (maybe 2), at least 2 BBJ2s, and a pair of L-1011s. Quite a large operation - they park the aircraft on the west side of the field, up towards Tropicana Avenue (I had a great view of the business jet ramp when I stayed at MGM Grand a couple of weeks ago).

I was next to them last Friday while taking a helicopter tour out to the Grand Canyon, interestingly the B747SP (yes it's a Special!) was taxing into the area after arriving in from somewhere. The B767 was parked by the hangers while 1 of the B737's was at the Business jet ramp a little further down from the B767. Didn't see the L1011's, but if they are maintained (exterior wise) as well as the B747SP & B767, then they must be some sweet machines!

Quoting Jfk777 (Reply 2): That and BMI's A330 from Manchester are the only European scheduled flights to Las Vegas.
I know Condor and My Travel used to have 767 flights to FRA,too.

There's actually several different owners listed for the Las Vegas Sands fleet, all of them sharing the same address which is a hangar on Koval Lane (I've noticed the same thing in regards to MGM-Mirage's fleet as well.).
The 747SPs, the 767s and a G-IV (N972MS) is registered to Interface Operations LLC.
The L-1011s, the 733s, three G-IVs (N588LS, N688LS, N988LS), and a G-V are all registered to Las Vegas Sands. There are also at least three N numbers reserved by LV Sands (N297MS N572MS N575MS).

Monarch also used to operate an A330 a few years back. I know that as I flew them there from MAN in 2000. Jason Whitebird actually photographed my arrival back 8 years ago. I found airliners.net because of this photo actually, oh and google.
Memories. I'm actually back in LAS for the first time since then this September! I'd take the direct MAN BD flight excpet its 3x as expensive as BA via LHR and DFW.

Not that long ago Mr Adelson only had one 747SP. There are now two. He and his family do use at least one of these as his personal plane. They polish the nose cowls and clean the wheels regularly. Talk about two well maintained and pampered birds!

The 747SP is in amazing condition. Definitely a well kept bird. Does anyone know where to find pictures of the cabin. I could only imagine what it would look like if the exterior is that well maintained.

I leave on the 20th. I'm there for the VMware VMworld conference. I'm looking forward to it, it'll be nice to see the place and drink and gamble for once as I was only 14 when I first went.
I take it those ex UA DC-10's in storage have gone now right?

Yeah,N1855U was scrapped a while ago. Last time i was there there wasn't anything stored there . i also read that no more planes will be scrapped in LAS,parking must cost too much. I remember the 1st time i went to LAS,there were a bunch of ex-UA 732's,741/2's ,DC-10's and N4522V ,a 747SP,that is now 'derelelict' in Tijuana.
