Finally managed to put my money where my mouth was. Put away about 50% of my daily tip earnings and finally got enough to purchase the fare. Website was broken yesterday so gave them a call and booked tickets for September 27 and 28, roundtrip SLC-DEN and back. We'll get to fly on the A318 which I hear has quite the kick at takeoff.
Told the res agent on the phone that my wife and I support Frontier and that we couldn't think of a better way to spend our 1st Anniversary than flying their airline. She seemed truly touched by the sentiment. Also told her that all of us at a.net are behind them, pulling for them and to remember that they are a great airline and will have our business for many years to come. She said I'd made her day.
$280 may not be much but I hope it helps. Looks like oil is beginning to go down in price, that will help them more than anything I can do, but I've done what I can.
Next step will be to find a way to express support during our flight. I'm thinking custom T-shirts or something. Then again, I don't want to be offensive to the UA employees when I go over to the UA concourse at DEN to take photos. Hmmm...any ideas?

Strange words for someone who says "I love defunct airlines"

I wouldn't worry too much about that, your mere presence is offensive to them, the shirts won't make any difference.

I dont quite understand that remark, but, well done to the guy who started this thread. I have never had the opportunity to fly Frontier, and i have tried in the past to use them on my travels to the US, unfortunatly they simply didnt fly the routes i wanted. They appear to be a quality airline from what i have read, and i wish them all the best. Anything a paying customer can do to help them must surely be a bonus, however, your fear of offending UA employees?? Can you elaborate on that?

Bizarre, IMO... And, (though I'm not particularly DISLIKING of Frontier), I for one am not "behind them, pulling for them"...

Hell, if you want to, go for it... though watch out for other passengers laughing at you!
Please don't think i'm being offensive with my comments... I just think its not necessary to take it so far (though once again just my personal opinion)

Quoting BestWestern (Reply 8): What a bizarre thread..... who cares if you bought two Frontier tickets.
That's a mightly bold statement coming from across the pond.
If you had bothered to read any earlier threads, you would know that a lot of us are trying to do our part in keeping F9 afloat by booking trips with them, even if it's a menial SLC-DEN trip. But I guess the concept of consumerism escapes you...
You are not speaking for me since I am completly indiferent to F9. Please call them back and clarify that at least one a.net member is not behind them.

Come on guys, Aloha717200 is just happy that he is doing something, albeit small, to help F9 out. If having a custom T-Shirt made makes him happy, let him do it. Personally, I think the F/A's would love it!
I was once on a NW flight and I was wearing an old NC T-shirt. One of the F/A's kinda rudely told me "that T-shirt belongs in a museum". The other two were VERY happy to see me wear it. One of them even comped me on a drink!
Aloha717200, you may want to consider buying a Frontier T-shirt or polo through their website. I have one of the polo's and they are of a nice quality!

I am truly surprised by the negative comments. A few weeks ago we had a Frontier support thread and on there we had a few people planning on buying tickets on F9 to support them right now. That's the reason for my thread.
Quoting Swiftski (Reply 1): Strange words for someone who says "I love defunct airlines"
Quoting SKORD (Reply 7): In that case, i have no further comment, and i withdraw my supportive comment from earlier.
I love learning about aviation history, and unfortunately some very interesting airlines are now defunct. That's what I mean by "I love defunct airlines", I wish we still had those defunct carriers flying. Since we don't, I like learning about them from a historical standpoint. I never thought anyone would misunderstand that statement...but I'll edit my profile accordingly. Edit: It now says "historical" airlines instead of "defunct".

For a moment, think about it. A lot of employees at F9 face an uncertain future. To hear that a community is behind them is something that brings a positive note to their day. My thread supporting Frontier a few weeks back gathered a lot of support and while it was only 20 or so people that responded, the fact that people did care is something that made this res agent's day. Isn't that a good thing?
Just exactly how helpful would it have been to say "we like you but others couldn't care less". Come on. Be reasonable. We're trying to support them, even if you don't care.
I'd forgotten how brash a few of our members can be. Thanks for reminding me guys. I'll remember not to be too positive in the future.

Good point, though what I had in mind was when I watched the final days of Aloha on the Hawaii news channels online, many fans of Aloha wore Aloha T-shirts on flights to show support. So I thought...why not the same for us? However, F9 is hopefully not shutting down, so it could appear patronizing I guess...but it was just an idea. Hey, if its a bad one, oh well, we'll do something else. Can you blame a guy for trying?
Quoting SKORD (Reply 4): however, your fear of offending UA employees?? Can you elaborate on that?
All the airlines are struggling. I dont wish any ill will on any other airline or its employees. Wearing a Frontier shirt in the UA terminal could appear to be "rubbing their nose in it" so to speak, which isn't a message I want to send.

Not to me. A day at the airport thrills me more than a steak dinner. And that's the truth. I'd rather eat breakfast at burger king in the airport watching aircraft take off, than eat a fancy restaurant breakfast. I'd rather smell jet fuel than air freshener. I'm an enthusiast, maybe I'm obsessive, but I love this industry, and to me a quick hop to DEN and back with my wife is the ultimate date.
