To A.netters familiar with FRA ops ..
I have a friend travelling from FRA to KBP (Kiev Boryspil) on Monday evening. He's connecting from LH 439 ex DFW. In light of the LH ground workers strike, I wonder what his options are. In the event that LH leaves him stranded, I looked up one-way fares on Travelocity and they were freaking outrageous - Curiously, the cheapest of them ($734) was the non-stop to KBP on Ukrainian Intl Airlines. It'll be a fairly tight connection though.
The basic questions I have are:
1) He's booked LH 3234 to KBP leaving at 22:10 Monday night. LH's website shows the flight status as "On Time". I read on an earlier thread that LH expects to have 75% of their flights up and running in spite of the strike. Is his flight to KBP likely to be affected?
2) Is LH obligated to get him to his destination on time?
3) He's using his miles accrued on US Airways (LH's Star Alliance Partner). Does that relegate him to the back of the line?
4) Are there ground options to get him to Kiev from Frankfurt that can get him there by Tuesday morning?
