Does anyone have any info on this, just out of interest. We havent seen an order from them in a while, i think their last was in June/July last year. The A332's they ordered on that occasion were deferred i think, does anyone know why? Also are they planning another order soon? I presume any order for aircraft would be for expansion as they have a fairly new fleet.

BD have been longing to offer longhaul service from LHR for a long time. They ordered a bunch of A330 a few years ago and then were denied the rights to fly. Plan B was put in place and they offered MAN-ORD and MAN-IAD I believe utilising 3 A330's. One aircraft was leased out to another carrier after sometime ( cannot re-call who, SA I think? ) BD have since launch India services from LHR and still long to offer transatlantic flight from there too. BD dropped the MAN-IAD service to use that aircraft out of LHR. They did deffer the rest of the airbus order but I think they would like them now, as it's all change!!!!
BD no longer fly LHR-BOM
current long-haul flights from LHR are Jeddah, Dammam and Riyadh
of course that has all changed with the acquisition of British Mediterranean.
BD also recently launched CAI and TLV.

BD is, from my understanding, holding back on further long haul ops from LHR for the time being. The ongoing tryst between LH and BD will be resolved in the next year or two (no-one seems to know the exact terms of the deal between the two) but if the ownership of BD changes it is possible that then they'll be in a better position to invest in more long haul a/c. LH could start to invest, and perhaps A332s could arrive (new, or maybe displaced from elsewhere in the Star Alliance).
Right now, the former BMED mid-haul routes seem to be holding stable if not doing well, and the MAN flights across the pond are extremely popular. With limited resources (just 3 A332, two in three-class and one in two-class config, and precious room for tech back-ups) BD are doing ok out of long haul, but I wouldn't expect any new aircraft for l/h in the next year or so. A few new planes are joining mid-haul, including G-MEDN - the first A321 to carry the newest shiny bmi livery.
