No information about this 4th model (passenger or cargo?) but interresting to know they could have Tu-204-300 models for long routes where they don't need of Il-96 passengers capacity.
The maintenance base could be the first step of Tu-204 delivery to Venezuela and Bolivia......

Russia Increasing Tupolev Airplane Deliveries to Cuba

Russia will deliver another Tupolev airplane to Cuba this year, bringing the total to four.

As they reported at the first Business and General Aviation - 2008 international air salon at the Il'yushin Finans Ko (IFK) leasing company, a corresponding document was signed today between the lease holder and the customer.

Three Tu-204 airplanes already have been delivered and are being used successfully and this aircraft will be the fourth. It has been proposed to deliver two more airliners (Tu-204-300) to Cuban aviators in the future. "Moreover, three long-range Il-96-300 airliners delivered previous also are being used by Cuban civil aviation," the IFK representative reported.

A maintenance base also will be created in Cuba for Russian aircraft equipment. It will allow more actively marketing of Russian airliners not only in Cuba, but also in all the high-capacity Latin America markets, the IFK representative thinks. "It is one thing to send parts for servicing to a plant in Ul'yanovsk or a maintenance base in Domodedovo and another to fly 300 - 500 kilometers to Cuba," they believe at IFK.

This is another cargo version. This or next year I'll think Cubana will be ordering the Sukhoi 100 to replace the already long leased 320s to destinations like Mexico and Canada where a daily TU-204-100 would be too big.

Don't forget they have already ordered (3 I think) An-148 wich is the same kind of capacity with the SSJ.
An other question..... Is the SSJ allowed by the embargo?

The An-148s are more of a regional aircraft, these will be replacing the Yak-42s that flies to Costa Rica, Guatemala, Bahamas and Santiago de Cuba.

Here is a link of an interesting article I read few months back that says about Aeroflot planning to set up a venture with some Cuban airline, Cubana de Aviacion in this case. Possibly seeding or leasing(?) few of its SSJ to Cubana.

Not to hijack the thread, but can someone tell if the Tu-204s have already taken over their Il-62M flights, like SDQ, CCS and others? Last year when I was in Cuba they had three Il-62M aircraft which were still flying daily. One was damaged in SDQ lately and might be wfu.

nobody has ever died from hard work, but why take the risk?

I guess it must have the range to do YYZ comfortably. Doesn't AC use E-190s to Florida?
Also puts Icelandair's S-100 aquisition into context.

As far as I know the PowerJet SaM146 engines are 100% Russian built, and no other part of the SSJ a/c are American built just like the An-148s.

Yes, the Tu-204 is already flying 3x weekly to CCS, 2x weekly to SDQ and 1x weekly to BOG. I am sure the Il-62s are used when an a/c is needed, just like AeroCaribbean ocasionally uses the Il-18 when they're short on an a/c.

I don't know the range of the SSJ but I do think it can definately do YYZ and YUL from HAV, VRA, CCC and the rest of the destinations served from Cuba. The SSJ is slightly smaller than the A318. Yes AC uses the E-190s to TPA. HAV was planned to be one of the E-190s destinations and was going to be upgraded to daily but donno what happend they still fly the A319 like 5x or so per week.

About the Il-18, do you mean Cargo or passenger flights?
