Hello.
When did AA retire the SP? What routes did they fly and what was the retirement route? I assume they were retired in 1994/1995?

Thanks

AA's two 747SPs were originally bought in 1987 for their new DFW-NRT route, which was inaugurated that March.

In 1991, when AA's new MD11s came along, AA shifted the two 747SPs to their new JFK-LHR route, with it later also serving (perhaps simultaneously with JFK-LHR) on JFK-BRU. I believe it was JFK-BRU on which the plane last operated in regularly scheduled service with AA.

It was earlier than that - I believe 1992-1993, but definitely earlier than 1994-1995.

They both arrived in February 1987, 2 of TWA's 3 SPs.

One sold in July 1992 and one in February 1993.

First scheduled 747-SP flight was on 21 May 87 on DFW-NRT.
Last scheduled 747-SP flight was on 20 Jul 92 on LHR-JFK, as AA101 #602AA.
