Colleagues and I will be taking several DFW-LHR trips in the upcoming months, and I was curious to see how AA's 777 upgrades are progressing.

Any updates on the new biz class seats? Or AVOD in economy?

Does AA have a target date for completing the upgrades to its entire 777 fleet?

There are only two T7s left to be reconfigured. Or I should say one. One bird is in the shop right now getting the makeover, leaving the last one to fly around until it enters the shop toward the end of the month. The entire fleet should be complete by mid September.

To clarify, the new video system is only AVOD in first and business. In coach it is "near on demand" with movies/videos starting every 30 minutes (as opposed to the 2.5 hour cycles before). Also, in coach pax do not have the ability to fast forward, rewind or stop video like first and business.

Interesting -- and a bit disappointing. I'm surprised that it's really worth the trouble of having two systems on each aircraft, but I guess it is an added cost to take AVOD cabin-wide.

We can't quite figure it out ourselves why the company didn't take AVOD cabin-wide. My guess is additional servers, added weight and ultimately added costs were the reasons. It's actually one system that operates the entire aircraft, it's just economy can't control their playback like first and business.
