I flew from JFK to Bucharest on OS in February 1996, and I have no idea what aircraft Austrian Airlines operated back then. This was back before I took notice! Could someone please inform me the most likely types I was on? Thank-you in advance!

I'd bet anything it was an A310. I think they used those exclusively from JFK to VIE back then. Unfortunately, they retired those great birds. I always though the 310 was too rare, much like the MD 11.

That would have been an A310-300. Nice aircraft, particularly in OS colours.

Indeed they were nice. I always liked the slightly stubby proportions of the A310... it looked cheerful and friendly, somehow  Smile

What about the VIE-OTP segment? What aircraft would've operated that?

According to an old OAG I've found it should have been a MD87

JFK-VIE was most likely flown with the A310 as I believe that the A340 which they had already in 1996 was used for NRT.

The OTP route could have been any of the MD-80 or the Fokker 70.  Smile

Alright thank-you guys for your help! From what I remember I would guess that the VIE-OTP segment was operated by something in the MD-80 family. I'm certain the JFK-VIE flight was on an A310 as I recall 2-4-2 seating in coach (where I usually fly!). Thanks again!
