Bookings out of GTF to LAS have been strong. So Allegiant is expanding service.

Flights to AZA start Oct. 23 and operate Thursday and Sunday.

Good to hear about expansion!!! Does anyone think G4 may pick up both EUG and MFR to AZA/IWA since USX is dropping PHX service?

There are more announcements for AZA routes coming over the next few weeks. I haven't heard for sure which ones were selected, but cities where USX has cut are a definite possibility.

Good news for Great Falls! Wonder if Allegiant is considering expanding into other cities in Montana?

Slightly off topic, but can somebody explain to me the difference between AZA and IWA? I've always know it as IWA, and don't know the origin of AZA. Clearly, its one or the other, right?

AZA is the new code for the old Williams now called Phoenix/Mesa Gateway Airport.

IWA is the code for Ivanovo Airport in Russia so Phoenix/Mesa changed to AZA.

It also gives a little local flavor to the code now. AriZonA = AZA, get it?

The FAA says IWA. ICAO says KIWA. The IATA says AZA. I haven't seen one of our bag tags for this airport, but guess which identifier we use for our operations? Big grin

Kind of deceptive to call Mesa "Phoenix"....

But anyways, great to see Allegiant expanding as other - more feeble - airlines contract.

Congrats to Great Falls.

Very cool...I'm much more likely to take their existing flight to LAS than the new one to Phoenix, but it's nice to see new flights up here anyway! I'm still wondering if Allegiant will ever start service to BZN. Allegiant was a sponsor at Montana State University (located in Bozeman) athletic events during the '07-'08 school year, but maybe they were just targeting people who live in other parts of the state or people from Bozeman who are willing to drive to BIL or GTF to fly on Allegiant.

I was recently in Provo UT, and there was talk there that Allegiant may be coming to PVU with a non-stop to Mesa.

Don't forget Missoula. So MSU is surrounded by 3 Allegiant stations in roughly a 3 hour drive any direction.

The returning destinations are coming out also.

So far they show 11 destinations will be available from AZA this fall.

FATFlyer - With Allegiant now serving both Mesa and Las Vegas from all three airports in Montana they serve (BIL, MSO, GTF), do you think they are done expanding in Montana?

Never say never about how Allegiant looks at possible stations.

But I'm scratching my head about whether they would split the current 3 stations by adding 1 more in the middle. I wouldn't see that anytime soon but who knows.

The rest of the state? I'm not sure Kalispell or anything in eastern Montana is large enough or convenient to cross-border travellers.

Well I hope they look at expanding more in Montana since both Kalispell and Bozeman are two of the busiest airports in the west that don't have service to Las Vegas. The distances to an Allegiant airport are almost an hour further away (not to mention mountain passes) for these airports than GFK is from FAR so I remain hopeful that someday they will do a bit more expansion in Montana.
