And you had to pick ten domestic destinations and five international destinations... what would they be. First where is your hub, then your destinations.
Here is mine
1. Los Angeles(757)
2. Miami(757)
3. Chicago(757)
4. John F. Kennedy (ERJ-145)
5. Washington D.C. (737)
6. Denver(737)
7. San Fransisco(757)
8. Providence(737)
9. Bangor(ERJ-145) .
10. Pittsburg(737)
All the Flights are daily
1. London(767)
2. Paris(767)
3. Frankfurt(757)
4. Amsterdam(757)
5. Dublin(757)
All flights are daily except London, which is twice daily(morning and evening departures.

Wait you did NOT just send a 737 the 42 miles from BOS-PVD did you? Man, that would NEVER fill up. Trust me, no one would want to get stuck in an hour of traffic in Boston, then try and get to the airport 1 hour early, then get a 30 minute taxi delay and fly 15 miinutes to PVD airport, then deplane, get bags, and hit up the rental car counters or curbside parking! Commutair has a Beech 1900 doing that flight once a day. 19 seats seems plenty adequate for me. But thanks for thinking so highly of us!!

Hub:Dayton, Ohio

1. Chicago MDW
2. Washington DCA
3. Boston*
4. Los Angeles LAX*
5. New York JFK*
6. Baltimore*
7. Orlando*
8. Miami*
9. Denver*
10.San Fransisco*

*= no current service between DAY and this market.

All domestic flights are daily and operated with Airbus A319s.

International: Not likely, but...

1. Toronto (319)
2. Montreal (319)
3. London LGW (310 or 330)
4. Paris CDG (310 or 330)
5. San Juan (319 or 310)

International service flown by Airbus A319 and either A310 or A330-200. But Int'l service from DAY wouldn't make sense until more domestic operations are achieved. Canada service might be reasonable though.

PHL: 328JETs with 30 seats if I could get them cheap from Skyway, if not then Dash-8-300s configured with 46 seats.

I don't think big, plus I do it realistically. No start up would start with 10 domestic or 5 international cities. Especially with different types of aircraft.

very funny... just trying to imagine "startup" with 10 domestic and 5 intl destinations, especially with 4-5 types of acft in service and up to 60 flights daily (look at GKirk post).. it is truly mid-size airline, in most countries - second airline after flag carrier.

even CalWings not going to start so wide  Smile

2Gkirk: where you get MAN-ISB **777**DAILY** idea for start-up??  Big grin

hubbed at JFK with 777s configured in 2-4-2 and 35-36" seat pitch and code sharing with JetBlue. Fares pegged at 15% above standard airline fare structure.

GRU continuing to EZE, daily
CDG daily
LGW daily
FRA daily, continuing to SVO
HKG (Thursday and Tuesday stopovers in HNL)

Just my pet fantasy, though...

No. It is not better. I am actually involved in airline commercial and can say you without any doubts:
4 acft types in startup fleet - not realistic at all.
If you want to have any chances to survive - you need to limit acft types to two maximum. Preferrably one manufacturer.

Hub CDG preferably terminal 2...
Company name : Parisair International

Toulouse with 737 700s (just to keep the Airbus people on their toes!).

international domestic by Parisair Europe (we are after all european union, so should count as domestic) :
London (A320s and A321s, frequency and service better than BA and AF, city, internet and automated check ins)
FRA (A320s ane A321s)
AMS (B737 700s and 800s)
Madrid, Rome and Athens (A320s, A321s)

real international by Parisair internationale:
JFK and EWR with B777s (twice daily each)
LAX with 747 400s daily
SFO with B777s or A340s daily (to pick up those left behind by UA)

yep. your forgot to obtain flag carrier stasus from AF. other things good enough. also you should mention several concordes: 4 times daily CDG to SYD, SIN, NRT, HKG, SVO, LAX.
and dont forget 747-400 domestic (550 pax) CDG to Marseille 12 times daily.

Hmmmm. I kinda like these posts. Ok. heres my Shot.

I have been a huge fan of Hugh Kelleher, so for a Domestic Low-Fare Startup, i would try to replicate the American Southwest Airlines model here in India. Though with a slight difference. There would definitely be J Class service. Upto 16 seats on A318/B736's going up to 24 seats on A321/B738's.

My Plan-
Planned Fleet : Upto 15 aircraft over 18 months. All leased. All aircraft configured in a 2 class layout, with 32" in Y-Class and 38" in J-Class.

100 seat - A318/B736 - Upto 4
150 seat - A320/B738 - Upto 7
180 seat - A321/B739 - Upto 4

PTV's in J-Class. Pull Down Cabin screens for Y. Possible Tie-Up with News/TV Channels for live news/sports telecasts.

Target Fleet Utilization : 12 hrs/day.

Service: Full meal service on flights longer than 1.5 hrs. "Meal-Snacks" service on flights between 0.5 and 1.5 hrs. In flights upto Upto 0.5 hrs, Beverage Service.

- "Metro" Flights, with same day return between BOM, DEL, CAA, BLR, MAA, HYD and AMD (all combinations between) using A320+A321's OR 738+739's.

- Additional Half-Fare "Night Saver" flights using A320/B738's.

- Extensive coverage, with ultra low fares, of 12 cities in North-Eastern India from the CAA hub using A318's OR B736's. Possible similar Hub based in BLR for coverage of Southern India using B738/A320's, or more B736/A318's, if they become available.

For an International Carrier:

Hubs : BOM, DEL
All aircraft configured in 3-class layout Y, J and F.

210 seat : A335 : 3
250 seat : A332 : 2
250 seat LR : A342 : 3

Service: Full "palace in the Sky" service. ie: 4 cuisine food service, PTV's in all classes.

Daily Non-stops from BOM and DEL to SIN, LHR, FRA and CDG. daily from MAA to SIN. Daily DEL-HKG. All using A332/A335.

Also possible: DEL-YYZ Non-Stop. or extension of the DEL-LHR run to YYZ.
What do u think?

HUB: London Stansted
Airline: National
Domestic Routes:

1- Stansted-Manchester 737-400 x2 daily
2- Stansted-Glasgow 737-400 x3 daily
3- Stansted-Liverpool 737-400 x2 daily
4- Stanstead-Edingbourgh 737-400 x2 daily

8- Stansted-Belfast 737-400 x3 daily
9- Stansted-Inverness 737-400 x2 daily
10- Stansted-Newcastle 737-400 x3 daily

International Destinations-Europe only (let's be a bit realistic here)

1- Stansted-Paris Charles de gaulle 757-200 x3 daily
2- Stansted-Barcelona 757-200 x2 daily
3- Stansted-Frankfurt 757-200 x3 daily
4- Stansted-Zurich 757-200 x3 daily
5- Stansted-Amsterdam 757-200 x2 daily

Summer routes (holiday charters)
1- Stansted-Palma de mallorca 757-200
2- Stansted-Malaga 757-200 x2 daily
3- Stansted-Nice 737-400/757-200 depending on passenger load.
4-Stansted-Athens 757-200 x2 daily
5-Stansted-Lisbon 737-400/757-200 depending on passenger load.

How does this sound? A fleet of Wet Leased 737-400's and 757-200's until profit started comming in then purchasing of these aircarft if the route is profitable would occur.
