Here's Boeing's weekly order update for August 5, 2008:

http://active.boeing.com/commercial/orders/index.cfm

New Orders:
Azerbaijan Airlines: 2 x 767, 2 x 737
British Airways: 2 x 777
Delta Airlines: 2 x 777
BBJ: 1 x 737

Previously Unidentified:
GECAS: 2 x 777

Cancellation: 1 x 787

It'll be interesting to see what 777s BA and DL ordered and who cancelled the 787.

I have to wonder if BA had converted the 4 772ER to 77W and ordered an additional 2 77Ws?

A little bit more clarity:

GECAS ordered 2 x 77W
DL ordered 2 x 77L

We know what 777s BA ordered - 777-300ER. It was all over the news last week  Smile

No, 4 were leases, 2 were purchases.

Then they probably converted the 4 outstanding 772ER to 773ERs

Hmm, interesting 1 x 787 cancellation. I wonder if that was a BBJ?

How long into the economic downturn before we start to see significant cancellations?

I think it's offset right now because newer planes are fuel-efficient planes, but I expect we should soon see the downturn in ticketing causing a glut of aircraft on the market.

The 787 cancellation seems to be Azerbaijan Airlines. Earlier in the week there was a report in russian press about an order upgrade for AHY from five to eight Boeings. The report mentioned that they have now ordered 4x 739ER and 4x 767/787.

As their old order was for 2x739ER and 3x788, and they now ordered 2x767, there is one 787 less...

They still show as -200ERs on Boeing's website. Flight reported that four of the six 77Ws would be leased and this was confirmed by BA insiders here.

Correct, Azerbaijan converted a 787 to a 767-300ER and placed new orders for another 763ER and two 737-900ERs:

SEATTLE, Aug. 7 /PRNewswire-FirstCall/ -- Boeing (NYSE: BA) and Azerbaijan Airlines have finalized an order for two Boeing Next-Generation 737-900ERs and two 767-300ERs. The order is valued at $449 million at list prices. One of the 767s is a substitution for a previously ordered 787, as reflected today on Boeing’s Orders and Deliveries Web site.

Including today’s announcement, Azerbaijan Airlines has a total of eight Boeing airplanes on order: four 737-900ERs, two 787-8s and two 767-300ERs.

Yup you're right. BA is getting 4 leased 77W from GECAS and buying 2 more. Additionally, BA has 4 options.
