A friend flying TLS-AMS (KL1312 @17:30 local time Friday 08th August 2008) has just done his online check-in.

Flight comes up as operated by DAIRO AIR SERVICES, Ougandan airline blacklisted back in 2006 by the European Community, and de-listed as recently as end of 2007??

a) what type of aircraft can be expected
b) why where they blacklisted in the first place
c) what has gone through somebody's mind in KLM????

Interesting....

I assume this will be operated by KLM Cityhopper - and that the OLCI has an airline code loaded possibly in error that decodes as DAIRO AIR SERVICES. That's my guess anyway.

Alas not, Blagnac Airport website lists the flight as a BAe 146-200.

A collegue at their flight planning dpt confirms that the aircraft type listed is correct... and KLM Cityhopper have none of these!

KLC is wetleasing two aircraft a BAe 146 from WDL and a fokker 100 from Sweden.
its probably a mixup in operator codes; codes can be used by more then one operator if they operate in different regions from the world.

KLM are very short of Fokker these days. Long story and it will continue for few days/week.

Last night, my flight was cancelled because no Fokker available. 2 weeks ago, I had the chance to use F100 from Sweden Air Express. In all fairness, except the cabin color a bit retro (brown and orange), service was fine and even better than KLM.

Can you explain a bit more please. I know they had major problems yesterday and this morning on their flights to UK regional airports, with dozens of pax being re-routed by taxis and coaches between airports like EDI, GLA, MME, LBA, MAN, BHX.... and on, and on!

Yesterday's problems were wainly due to bad weather at SPL. There was a ground stop between 09.45 - 10.30 and also later in the afternoon, because of heavy thunderstorms. SPL arrival capacity was down to only 35 flights/hour iso the usual 68, causing arrival delays up to 2 hours. This effect the operations all day and even today, because of crewrest hours.
