According to the article, it was out of and back into SNA.

And you have to love this subtitle:

Quote:
Pilot smelled smoke shortly after take off, but no flames found onboard

So, the captain smelled smoke, went looking for it, found none, and landed.  sarcastic

Ooops. My apologies. I Guess I need to start drinking coffee in the morning.

I guess it's better to be safe than to be sorry, do you know what type aircraft?

Do we know if the passengers had to exit aircraft via slides? The article says they "evacuated" the plane, but not clear if slides used or not.

They only operate 737-700s to EWR, so unless there was an equipment change, it's one of those.

I am hoping your sarcasm is directed at the reporting rather than the actions of the flight crew. The lessons of Swiss Air 111 apply to any incident of smoke or fumes detected on the aircraft. Get on the ground ASAP and you can second guess the decision for the rest of your life. There were never any actual flames detected in Swiss Air 111 or Value Jet 592 until almost the very end of those two very unfortunate events.

If you read the whole post, you would've read that it was.

I did, it is just difficult (at least for me) to fully interpret what is in someones mind when I read their posts. It wasn't my intention to direct any angst what so ever towards you, I just wanted to clarify for myself, and possibly any others, that might read your post and not be sure. Plus it was an opportunity to bring up some of the previous, very serious, incidents where things didn't work out so well.

Gotcha. The non-ability to format posts to ease readability doesn't help anyone either (but that's another topic.)
