Narita and Hong Kong (nonstop).
I am not sure if the ORD-Incheon ICN nonstop flight is still a 744.

There was a better way to fly it was called Concorde

ICN is only served from SFO and NRT.

ORD-PEK is currently served by a 744, but that drops down to a 777 in October
ORD-PVG is staying with a 744.

This somewhat summarizes what others have said, but here are the UA 744 departures from ORD on the current schedule:

UA 835 ORD-PVG
UA 881 ORD-NRT (begins 9/1/08)
UA 895 ORD-HKG
UA 940 ORD-FRA (9/8/08-9/20/08)
UA 1243 ORD-PEK (ends 8/31/08)

In general, there is also the rare appearance of a scheduled inter-hub 744 (most recently ORD-SFO) as well as inter-hub 744 subs. Though obviously not the point of this thread, UA also codeshares on the daily LH 744 flying ORD-FRA.

UA 1243 ORD-PEK

Don't know where you found UA1243 for being the PEK flight.

ORD-PEK is UA851

UA1243 is RIC-ORD and continuing ORD-DSM on a 735 and 752, respectively.

Since we are on the subject of United’s B747s fleets. Is it true that they will be closing the LAX B747’s based domicile? If that’s the case then it would make sense why UA891/890 remains B777s.

Yes, they are, in addition to the DCA 744 base.

Well, not just that, but the availability of 744's is an issue too. When UA initially decided to terminate LAX-HKG, UA891/890 showed up on the books as becoming a 744 after HKG was to shutdown. Shortly after the announcement of LAX-HKG's termination though, UA also announced that ORD-NRT was to change from 2x 777 to 1x 744. After that announcement, UA891/890 went back to showing up as a 777.

So, with the upcoming schedule changes, UA839/840 to SYD is the only UA 744 flight that will continue to fly at LAX. It will still have LAX-based cabin crews, but will be flown with SFO cockpit crews.

The only long haul flight from LAX. I guess all those senior mamas/papas (LAXSW) will be working those flight.

Right you are. It was a typing error on my part from my handy version of the UA schedule; it's UA 851 departing ORD at 12:43 and arriving PEK at 15:00 (+1). Sorry for the confusion.

No problemo. I just got a good chuckle when I saw that 1243 was DSM. Not quite as far away as China.... though the rolling acres of farms may make it seem that way when driving through  Wink

Haha don't you mean IAD? A flock of UA 744 at DCA would be quite a sight to behold...

I don't think there is a IAD domicile, since UA does operate out of DCA and IAD.

You are correct, all UA 744 flights are out of IAD.

However, as far as UA crew bidding is concerned, all Wash DC. based crews are "DCA-based", whether they fly out of IAD or not. It's a relic from years past when DCA was the only airport in DC and Dulles didn't yet exist. I guess UA has never bothered to change it, so 744 and 777 crews are technically DCA-based.

Doesn't make a lot of sense, but that's just the way it is!!
