Taken from CNN's Website

The JetBlue Airbus 320, bound for West Palm Beach, Florida, took off 10,000 feet short of the plows Tuesday, then cleared the runway nearly 1,000 feet above them. No injuries were reported.

FAA spokesman Jim Peters said the incident is classified as a "runway incursion." ..............

I would hate to see what 5 snow-ploughs would do to an A320. BTW is there a runway that long at JFK?

I have no memory of this place.

Yep, I think they have one that is over 15,000 feet.

I wouldn't really call this a close call if it was able to take off 2 miles before the plows.

Sometimes I go about in pity for myself and all the while a great wind carries me across the sky.

yes there is a runway that big...13L-31R

this really wasnt our fault. we didnt take off on a closed runway, the snow plows were on an active runway. and it weally wasnt even close.its being investiagted.

JFK's 13R/31L is 14,572 feet long. This would mean the JetBlue A320 took off ONLY using 4,000 feet of the runway? Is that possible?

4000 feet? That's 1200-1300m, right? Why not? It isn't a widebody, after all...

If it was nice and cold, I could see that happening.

Yeah, that 10,000 feet horizontal and 1,000 vertical isn't what I call a "near miss." We're making a mountain out of a mole hill.
