As no one else seemed to be starting a new thread to continue the talks about aviation in Finland, I shall do it then
So, here we go
I would like to ask if anyone has any idea how the new AY Seoul route is doing? I know it is a bit early to really say anything about the successfulness of the route, but I was just wondering what have the loads been like since it started.
I also heard AY is recruiting more cabin crew, though the company is going through some hard times. I guess this is to prepare the crewing for the new long haul a/c arriving next year. Is the A333 next one to arrive?
Anyone been able to catch the A340 in ONEWORLD livery? I'd like to see a good picture of it.
Unfortunately next time I will be getting on an AY bird coming to HEL from Paris, it wont be the retro bird. Was a bit dissappointed! It seems on the 1st of September the plane is not operating any flight, according to the timetable found on AY's website. Anyone been lucky enough to get on this bird?

That we shall see, as I was wondering earlier on, it shall be interesting to see what AY decides to do regarding merges/alliances etc. in the future.
Isn't FLL going to be a charter destination? With 752 fleet?

Well just a few weeks ago, the Broward County Commission, who runs the airport, has stated that they had not yet heard from Finnair about them using the airport. Plus with the airport people here making a big stink about attracting more trans-atlantic traffic, you would think that even a charter flight would get some love! We shall see...

Actually I didn't see anything about US routes in the article, did I miss something? One A.netter explained you just have to read between the lines
According to AY earlier the window for their new US routes lies between 2007-2017 so still a lot can happen before that window closes. Of course they are careful starting anything new in the near future.
AY is not the only airline having troubles at the moment, hard to say much about the future in the aviation business anyway.
This year will be a sticky one for AY too but they still are in a relatively good shape. I think the years 2009-10 will tell a lot more, after the A333s have arrived, their HEL hub has got the face lift etc.
Anyway, it could well be AY end up to the BA family, thats my guess.
