Why Are US Flags Backwards On Planes?

On flag carries, one side of the plane has a correct falg. The other side has a reverse flag (with the stars on the upper rights instead of left). Why is this?

I suppose that if you were looking at a flag blowing in the breeze from one side, it would look normal. If you go to the other side of the flagpole and look, it will appear backwards. I always figured that an aircraft in motion would provide pretty stiff breeze for a flag, so perhaps that's the reason.

U.S. Flags are printed "backwards" on the right side so that the flag appears to be "blowing" in the (relative) wind. (The flag is 'backwards" on the starboard side of the Space Shuttle too.)

It's not backwards. The blue field is supposed to be at the forward side, in other words it should be pointed towards the nose. Also, if you were to be able to see though the plane, you would see that the painted flags are just two sides of the same flag. It's just like looking at a real flag, if you hang it so that on one side the blue is on the left side, on the other side of the flag the blue field would be on the right side.
