Hello all, I am booked to fly MSP-AMS-CAI-SSH this winter. My flights are as follows
AMS-CAI : Egyptair 758 arriving at CAI 8:45
CAI-SSH Egyptair 121 departing CAI at 10:30.
These are on separate tickets (so presumably I'll have to check in again). I'll have my egypt visa before I arrive. I am wondering:
A) Do I have enough time for my connection in Cairo, can I reasonably make this?
B) What are Egyptair A321/320s like? What is their middle/short haul service like? Are the aircraft comfortably, how is IFE? Meals? etc.
C) What can I do to help make sure my transfer goes faster/smoother in CAI?
Thanks in advance to all who can help!

I have done MAD-CAI-SSH twice, and MAD-CAI-HRG once.
1.- You are going to run, my friend. You will have to change terminal, and you will need a taxi, because there are not bus connections between them. Anyway, ask. But ask only to the tourism police (those wearing in white).
2.- As far as i remember the Egyptair short-medium range airplanes don't have IFE. The A32x are in a very normal shape. Meal is 5 over 10.
3.- In Egypt everything goes smoother/faster with a tip. So, do not lose the opportunity to change money at your arrival, at the same time that you pay your visa fee. Negotiate the price of the visa and the change rate!

Thanks for the advice. I'll hit the ground running with money ready to tip whomever to grease the wheels. So just to be sure, I will have to change terminals between Egyptair international and domestic service?

Quoting FlyDreamliner (Reply 2): I will have to change terminals between Egyptair international and domestic service?
I don't think so (not 100% sure about it) but since your trip will be in winter CAI's new T3 should already be open. So you might be lucky and might not have to change terminals.

Thanks for the info... i'll have to wait for my drink until the hotel bar.. i should survive.
when is T3 supposed to open at CAI?
Is 1:45 long enough to connect at CAI, with customs and what not?

I will be going at the very end of December, when T3 is supposed to be open (and have been happily running for a solid month or two), will SSH and HRG be operating out of T3 with the rest of Egyptair service?

Understood. Lucky me, I'll get to try out T3, and should make my flight. I'll be flying out of Cairo a couple of weeks later on Royal Jordanian, had I known Egyptair was going to be in the new terminal, I would have booked my flight to Amman on them... then again trying out Royal Jordanian's new E-195 will be nice as well.
