I came out of a Colombo-Mumbai flight and saw an A333 parked at the gate of Mumbai AIrport. Initially I thought it might be a Munich bound flight which must have changed its timings, but when I asked a ground personnel he told me it was a BOM-FRA flight. Lufthansa have been flying the B747-400 since atleast 8-9 years and B747-200 before that on this route.
Have they suddenly switched to A330-300 from a B747-400 ? Can they meet the passenger loads that have been booked on the B747-400 !

Maybe the 744 went tech .... any details from our friends (German A-netters) , because as far as I remember there was no mention of Lufthansa reducing capacity , in fact they were the only airline , probably along with SQ increasing capacity to and from India.

Quoting Ojas (Reply 2): It is temporary change for 2-3 days. B744 will be back regularly. LH downgrading to BOM is like EK going back to just 1 daily flight.
According Amadeus system, LH-756 will operate only on August 18 and August 19 with Airbus A330-300; tomorrow August 20, will operate this route with Airbus A340-300; from this thursday the operation of this flight will see again the Boeing 747-400 equipment.
