AA flight 802 on a B738 from DFW-YUL diverted at ALB this afternoon. As of 8:22 EST, it has 5 mins. left in the 30 min journey. Looking at the YUL radar, I saw some strong storms north of the border. I someone got some pics!!!
One of the good things about ALB, is that we get some pretty big aircraft for diversions. We are close to BOS,EWR,JFK,and YUL. Last winter a AC 340 came and a couple summers ago,
a CO 777 came, along with a couple B6 planes and Song planes. Thanks to JJR and Daniel Evans for the wonderful pics!

Pretty bad weather at YUL yesterday evening. The thunderstorms weren't violent but their duration was unusually long. There was a ground stop at YUL for over an hour due to the continuous lightening. Hence the diversions.
Air France flight 346 was diverted BGR (Bangor, Maine). It must have been a real treat for them to see a 744 in AF colors there. The flight arrived at YUL around 20h45 about 3 hours late.
Also interesting is that before the storms hit, a United 772, flight #UAL945 diverted to YUL appently with smoke in the cockpit. Another United 772, flight #UAL9815 was immediately diverted to YUL to pick up the stranded passengers.
