To me it seems like a photoshop job. The lines aren't cleanly cut (between the red in the widget) and there isn't a big enough difference between the dark and light red on the widget. Then there's the fact that they haven't actually gotten merger approval and it doesn't seem that they would spend the money on something that isn't 100% certain.
Now this is actually a good idea for when the merger gets approved. Just make it a little more like the DL widget and it would be a good quick fix until they can be officially be replaced in the DL livery. This as well as put a decal under the NWA saying like "serviced by Delta Airlines" or something like that just to show that it is really DL now.

Quoting Cadet57 (Reply 6): That said, they did do an *ok* job as it looks like they tried to add reflections on it, but the top looks too curved compared to how curved the fuselage is.
I wouldn't even call it an "ok" job. It's a poor job. No - it's a really bad job. It looks like some 12 year old did this. All that's done here is two gray lines have been "painted" (and by painted, I literally mean they probably used MS Paint) over the red triangle that is already part of the NW logo. It's not two-toned like the real DL widget. And I'm not sure what your seeing Cadet57, but the curve is perfectly fine. The red part was not added, it's part of the normal NW logo.
