WOW! What a beautiful bunch of restaurants. I wish I were a crewmember at B6 again to check out the Terminal.  Smile

That definitely looks very cool.

Only one thing though: that tapas bar featured as the top picture looks completely impractical for an airport location. Think of someone trying to meander through there with a carry on bag. Geeze!

They all look very expensive and snobby. What will all the rif-raf eat? Will there also be the de rigeur Macudonaldsu and Cinnabon and such?

There aren't any in T6, so I'd assume there won't be any in T5. But I'd assume that B6 would carry over many of the non-brand name places that they have now (Famiglia, Create Your Own Salad, Boar's Head Deli, etc.) that are similarly priced to other airport fast food but much better tasting.

B6 has really done a good job of offering a wide variety of quality food at various price ranges in T6 (the best at JFK in my opinion), and I expect that to continue in T5.

IIRC, the places in the current food court (Boar's Head, Cheeseburger-Cheeseburger, etc.) are going over to T5 in another food court type atmosphere. It looks like the article only touches on the sit-down restaurants.

Wow, being an architecture buff, it's encouraging to see that an airline like B6 not only has onboard style, but also considers style in their terminal as well. Seems to me like it would help sell the JetBlue "experience". I'm also happy to see that T5 is so well done, because with today's "financial troubles" (I'll spare you my commentary on that matter) it would be easy for an airline to skimp on the architectural side of things... Especially since the cost of good design can be quite prohibitive.

Don't forget that B6 is not paying the entire tab on T5. A vast majority of it is being picked up by PANYNJ.

Well, the terminal's exterior is not architecturally stunning. B6 figured (rightly so in my opinion) that it would be a better use of money to go crazy on the interior rather than the exterior.

In view of UA's decision to offer BOB on Transatlantic flights out of Dulles - is this the way of the future for all long distance flights? You have to arrive so early to go through security you will have time for a quality meal before your flight. So people will arrive on the plane with a full stomach, and the BOB food will go unsold.

Will the prices at these eateries compare well with places in the city? Will prices be better for sandwiches than the $9 that UA charges for their BOB or $6 for snack boxes?

Thanks JBLU for this post.

Even though it's out of the way for me to fly from CLT to PHX on B6, I plan to give them a try just to see terminal 5 again after many years. The fares seem to be competitive with more direct routes and I have yet to sample their service.

Has there been any discussions as to what they plan to do with the space under the tubes between the original terminal and the new roadway. I remember the sitting in the area in front of those huge windows that looked out on to the ramp framing the aircraft perfectly. Although there will no longer be any aircraft in view it would be nice to see either landscaped gardens, fountains or perhaps a sculpture garden. Any thoughts?

Famiglia is a name brand place. It's a New York name brand. Many, many, many locations in New York as well as spread to airports and such around the country.

And certainly Boar's Head is a name brand.

There's one here at Logan Airport, in Terminal C (UA, B6, FL)

It's interesting. It started as a New York City chain, and when they expanded nationally, they focused only on airports, universities, hospitals, stadiums, places like that.

Yeah, that's what I was thinking, too. In fact, most of the spaces depicted in the article look that way.

That's a pretty safe way to build loyalty in a new market since the locales you mentioned have "captive audiences" that will look for convenience first. Once the product grows in popularity, the chain can look to expand to traditional, standalone spaces and the like.

Looks amazing. I'm definitely going to arrive at JFK a few hours ahead of my flight just to try out one of these restaurants. Deep Blue at the current terminal has great sushi - I can only imagine how good the other restaurants will be.

On another note, these restaurants don't look too practical for carry-ons and all the other junk that people bring with them. But then again, I don't know if it's just me, but have people realized that some JetBlue fliers tend to have less carry ons - or even no carry ons at all (thanks to the free TV and radio)? I realized this on my last flight to ROC, where people basically were carrying their laptops or their purses. Same thing when I went to FLL (though people tended to carry their dogs in Louis Vuitton doggie bags).

Yea that could be a problem with everyones bags. And I have noticed that there is less carry ons and all that at B6 but not to the degree of none. And plus since they charge for the second bag like everyone else, more people will start to bring everything on.

And plus you can't be referring to routes to like SDQ where people would bring microwaves on if they could. (Joking, but people do check bags way more to/from SDQ then other regular cities.)

I believe there's one in a new movie theater way down yonder in Florence, Kentucky.
