Quoting Ansett767 (Thread starter): qu1: If I am booked on say QF 32 LHR to SYD via SIN... can I request an upgrade on JUST the LHR SIN leg? Or not, seeing as I am booked the whole way through?
I believe you can request an upgrade for one leg of the journey. However, I'm not 100% on that. Whenever I've requested an upgrade, I've only been flying the segment to Australia on QF, with other airlines for the rest.
Quoting Ansett767 (Thread starter): qu2: How are loads in J class on QF 32 vs QF 2? And which do you think is more likely to happen?
It all depends on if seats are available, time of the year, and so on.
Quoting Ansett767 (Thread starter): qu3: How often are upgrades like this awarded? (using Y to J as Y+ doesn't exist yet) - small chance or big chance or?
I got upgraded from Discount Economy to Business on BKK-SYD in July right before World Youth Day. I thought I didn't have a chance in hell, and had requested one to Y+ if I didn't get the J, but I got the J.
Put in the request, you'll know if you got it when it happens. Awards on QF are given by order of status - Platinums get their requests first, Golds, Silvers, then Bronze - all subject to availability in the cabins requested of course.
I do quite enjoy a spot of flying - more so when it's not in Economy!
