I've heard that they want to downscale their capacities so they could get the 773 but what about the LR?? The 773s could not go the same distances as the good old 744.

And maybe some 772LRs for a LHR-SYD non-stopper!!  Big thumbs up

Reportedly, BA is in final negotiations with Boeing on a order for around 20 773ERs....
The 772LR could do LHR- Perth nonstop....

BA is working with Boeing to come out with a 777-300ER with MTOW of under 318t so they can order RR Trent 800 series engines on it.

If BA does what Tedski says/ hopes they are doing, I am amazed. Ordering a clearly less capable aircraft purely because the engines aren`t British is just plain stupid.. And given that the majority of BA`s 777 fleet today is GE90 powered, adding the mighty -115B to their hangars poses no problem....
I personnally think ( and pray ) that BA will do the smartest thing here, and order the "real" 773ER.....
We`ll see....soon

BA is negotiating with Boeing towards an order for
B777-300ER to replace some of their 747-400.

I wasn't aware that BA was looking at the 777-200LR though it would be a perfect addition to BA fleet.
