Aerolineas Argentinas + Austral = 50 E Jets

Skyliner.de , reports AR + AU will order 50 E Jets.

Any more infos ? Is it the end of the 737s and MD80s in both Argentinian carriers fleets ?

In another way , has AR put in service their first A320s ?

There have been rumbles of this for a while now, recently there were high level trade talks between Brazil and Argentina with relation to a possible procurement.

O secretário de Transportes argentino, Ricardo Jaime, confirmou hoje negociações com a Embraer para renovar a frota da Aerolíneas Argentinas e de sua subsidiária Austral.

Argentine transport secretary confirmed today nogociations with Embraer to modernise the AA fleet and its subsidery Austral.

"O plano a médio prazo é poder renovar toda a frota (para vôos domésticos) que está sendo operada por aviões MD, para que no futuro possamos operar com aparelhos da Embraer, de 70 a 90 lugares", disse Jaime a uma comissão de deputados que analisa o resgate da Aerolíneas Argentinas.

The plan to replace the whole fleet (for domestic flights) which are operated by MD aircraft, for the future it is possible to be operating equipment of Embraer with 70 to 90 seats, says a commission of deputys that are analyzing the rescue of AA.

"Iniciamos as negociações para isso. Viajaremos em breve ao Brasil para ver quais são as condições gerais, disponibilidade (de entrega de aviões) e condições de crédito", disse.


We have started negotiations for this. Travelling soon to Brazil to see the general conditions, availability (for aircraft delivery) and credit conditions, they say.

Nope. Pushed initial date was pulled back to October. The main reason, bringing back the MD fleet up to speed and some delays in the delivery of the equipment necessary to put them in service.

I don't quite think so. The 732s may be pulled out sooner, but they have been hush-kitted, that means they can still fly through the 2010 CAT-III Sount Stage implementation limit. MD80s will not suffer this.

It's weird, AR/AU will eliminate their 150-160 seaters to replace them with 90 seaters? I don't quite think our Transport Secretary knows what he's doing.

Perhaps Airbus will fill that seat capacity, maybe they want to walk before they can run, lower capacity with more frequency maybe their thinking, only they know. At least its better that losing your state airline !!!

I wish AA luck with their future plans, it would be sad to see such a past good carrier going to the dogs

The thing is, there are no A32S available. Having E170s, E190s adds a fleet type to the already MESSY domestic/regional regional fleet.

They're taking enough E-Jets that they could eliminate either MDs or 737s if they were so inclined. As I said before, though, it would take a large capacity cut to eliminate both.

Yeah, I agree. Sure AR could use some Ejets, and I love to see more Ejets flying around and Embraer doing well, but this order is not really based on the merits of the plane nor on AR's needs. It's obvious there's politics all over this.

Anyway, they will look good on ARs colors, and will be nice to see more Ejets in South America.

There is a white A320 in Interjet's Maintenance area in TLC airport. AR pilots took the airplane to TLC for contract maintenance and 4 packs of drugs were found in the cargo area by IJ's maintenance personnel. Do you know how AR got out of this mess?? I think there was a lease contract signed with Pegasus or some other Aircraft Leasing company???

Yeah, to replace either. But not both. The most urgent matter are the 732s. Even though they have a replacement, the 737-500 could go for regional or even some "dense" domestic routes, but you'd still have 3 types of plane.

That A320 belongs to Pegasus... but it's been there since February 2008.

2 A320s are stored at EZE LV-BNZ and LV-BOJ

1 is stored at Dinard ( It came from CAI , where it has been painted ) , LV-BPC Ex OO-TCK.Guess this one will never fly to Argentina.

How are you? That A320 we're talking about, arrived at 6 PM LT and drug was found that same day 4 hours later by Interjet's mx people when Mexican Federal Police was notified. So now is on the leasing company... interesting! I hope this one stays with us!
