Sarah Palin's Gulfstream To DAY?

From the NYT: "Attention then turned to reports that a chartered Gulfstream jet had arrived near Dayton from Anchorage late Thursday, suggesting that Ms. Palin was on it."
http://www.nytimes.com/2008/08/30/us/politics/29palin.html?hp

I tried finding this flight on FlightAware but I couldn't. Tried both DAY and MGY.

Does anyone know if this flight did indeed land somewhere "near Dayton" and, if so, how to track it?

No need to track it as she is now speaking on CNN accepting the role as VP running mate.

FOX News (of which I am not normally a viewer) actually reported this morning that there was an earlier flight originating in Anchorage which did an overnight in Flagstaff, AZ, apparently not far from Sen. McCain's home, which then proceeded on to Hook Field, outside of Dayton. In all likelihood, this may have been the plane that Gov. Palin was on, while the later flight may have been family.

Why wouldn't she have come from Juneau (where I assume she works) instead of Anchorage?

I understand she is a pilot. I tried to look it up but did not find any information on it. If she does fly planes, it has some relevance to this website and thread.

Sarah Palin's G4 arrived very late last night into my hometown airport of KMWO. I had noticed that flight coming in and it never clicked. It was not till this morning that I realized that I know who McCain's running mate is and no body else does. I headed out to the airport at 3PM only to find it already gone. They brought her into MWO becuase it is almost a desert airport. Hardly any action going on. So, McCain was trying to keep her a secret by bringing her into Hook Field.

Not a very good job of keeping a secret. Block your reg number next time! And be a little more "stealthy" about where you're bringing her in from!

I have to give them kudo's on that one. I used to work at MWO years ago for Hogan Air/Miami Valley Aviation. Since the owners last run in with the IRS that place has been a ghost town. The airport is perfect for this type of operation though. Long runway with LOC approach and a nice very under utilised facitilty. Best of all, the press has no clue that it is there. The Air Force uses it quite a bit with their fleet of Gulfstreams. For what I do not know but I remember marshelling them in quite often.

A Gulfstream for Hook Field is VERY rare these days. The airport is actually starting to get interest again. I remember Miami Valley Aviation as a kid. Those beautiful DC-3's would fly over my house headed for MWO. I recently ran into one of the old DC-3s when I was in Tennesse. A doctor service was using it. But for those other 2 DC-3's and Beech 18? they spent the rest of their life rusting in a field right off the end of the runway.

Anyone else notice that N222GY is the aircraft that is pictured on the Flightaware.com welcome page? That Aircraft has been there for months welcoming you to the site and it's now been used to transport the GOP's family/VP candidate!

That is weird.

KMWO - another great place for the $100.00 hamburger! I used to fly up there all the time from LUK and HAO, park in the grass by the hangars by Aeronca, and have lunch or supper at Frisch's right next door. GREAT MEMORIES!
