What are those "boxes" in Lufthansa's First Class? The seats on left and right have some sort of metal (?) divider folded up behind the seats in front, whereas the two middle seats have a flat, "box" behind the seat in front...

Are these things adjustable? What are they?

They unfold to make the same divider that the two window side seats have.

Those boxes have a privacy screen that folds up, which is folded up on both window seats. It makes it so that you have some level of privacy when the seat is fully flat.

Under the foldable privacy screen is a storage box where they keep the pillows and blankets that are used when the seat is folded into the flat position.

Overall LH first is decent. It certainly is not as good as other products out there in terms of amenities and comfort. It is nice and wide, but I feel it is a generation behind other more sophisticated seats found on airlines like BA, UA, AA, SQ, EK and others.

If you have never designed an airplane part before, let the real designers do the work!

Well LH are launching a new seat this year or next year, as a matter of fact I've heard rumours about some aircrafts that have already been fitted with the new seats in the first half of the F cabin and regular "old" ones in the second half. I believe that LH's F product is by far more superior than on other EU and US carriers in terms of catering and ground facilities.

Does anyone know exactly how long LH's current F seats have been in service?
