I have been noticing flights to the following spots with the following carries
FSM-BTA E145 and TCF and RPA 175
SDF-NWA 752
TYS-USA A319x2 and SCX 738

Are these airlines donating their fleets and crews or are they part of some emergency contract?

Anyone see any other flights??

Quoting GEG2RAP (Thread starter):
TYS-USA A319x2

In addition to TYS, US is sending a number of extra A319/A320 sections to BNA and CLT, and they're also sending extra sections of Republic E170/E175s. I don't believe they're sending in any extra PSA or Mesa planes.

Also, don't be surprised to see a US B767-200ER show up later today or early tomorrow.  Wink

Donating the fleets, more or less. (They are, after all, not just evacuating their customers, but also their station employees and some equipment.)

The crews, they get paid.

I'm the expert on here on two things, neither of which I care about much anymore.

I would guess instead of more flights, that some of the airlines could be upgrading equipment for a few days.

I believe it is all part of the new, comprehensive evacuation plans developed by the city of New Orleans after Katrina. As for the airlines donating equipment, I don't believe this is the case as CNN specifically said that the city has chartered these aircraft. They have been busing people who having no other form of transportation to the airport and have set up a temporary terminal, complete with security. CNN was interviewing a few of the people who said they had no idea where they were going, nor had they ever been on an airplane in their life. In addition to airplanes, the city has also contracted 100s of buses and special trains from Amtrak.

We've been tankering into MSY (with all -700s in/out) just in case fuel supplies became an issue. I haven't heard that fuel has run out, but I suspect that on a longer JFK-MSY flight the JBU flight couldn't carry that much tanker fuel, thus the stop in MEM so it could carry sufficient tanker fuel on the shorter MEM-MSY leg.

Actually, flight 66, the 6:15P has been moved up to 5:55P to mee the 6P curfew.

In addition to upgrading all flights to 737s, and adding extra sections to both
GPT and MSY, AirTran sent down a group of ATL employees to cover the station
this weekend while the local MSY personnel prepared to evacuate. Employees
will return on the 5:55P departure.

There are quite a few flights to DFW from MSY including a American Eagle CRJ (Not normally a MSY plane) and a Northwest 757. I really wanted to fly the American Eagle flight as it is something "different"...but I had to stick to my SYR turn instead.
