Krabi airline to start new route between Oslo,Norway and Thailand.
The route will be Oslo - Krabi - before it continues to Bangkok.
The route will be flown with a B 747 400
New route starts 1. November.
This new airline has announced this new route several times and it has been posponed just as many times. so the news should be taken with a pinch of salt.

This is by the way a direct flight. It will fly direct from Norway to Thailand without the usual stops in Copenhagen or Stockholm that we Norwegians are used to.

Quoting LongHaul67 (Reply 6): Will a 747-400D have the legs to do OSL - KBV nonstop?
Apparently it can. The big thing about this announcment, is that it will be a DIRECT flight from Norway to Thailand. It will be all year round. Earlier it has only been in the winter months that certain charter airlines has provided non stop to Thailand.
It could be that the picture in the article is old and that the equipment that will be used actually has winglets.... We'll see

Originally the flights were to be operated by Air Atlanta Icelandic with a B747-300 and that was scheduled to start about 4-5 months ago... That's why you're seeing a B747 with no winglets... Not sure who would be operating the service now although it says on their website that they delayed the initial launch in order to get their AOC so its possible they will be operating the aircraft themselves...

I thought they were going to fly direct to HKT??
Quoting Airbuster (Reply 14): So this is just a pimped up picture of a 747-300, thus in my eyes quite a shabby image to use for an airline....
I think everything about this airline seems a bit shabby
How can a 767 fill in for a 747 if it goes tech... But it seems that at least Ving (charter company) are offering seats on the airline so hopefully I am wrong.

Don't like to be negative when I don't know much about these guys... but this airline reminds me of dodgy old Phuket Air.
Interesting to note they are flying to/from the old Don Muang (DMK) in Bangkok. That's different.
One would presume they would have rights to fly pax between KBV and DMK - have to remember that for next time I am in Bangkok, as not sure how long these guys will be around.
Looking at their timetable starting on 1 Nov - is that flying all possible with one plane? On Friday they seem to have a plane leaving Thailand on Friday morning, and a plane flying from Oslo, to arrive in Thailand on early Friday evening.. Or are they starting with more than one plane in the fleet?

May be some one can help me out here. The KBV Runway 32/14 is around 6800 ft long. Is this enough for a 744 ? Could that be the reason that the require a stop at DMK, due to fuel etc? I am puzzled.....

Quoting Solnabo (Reply 13): Wait til x-mas holiday you´ll see jampacked B747´s flying from OSL - ARN - CPH
Hopefully it has calm down in Thailand til then
What's the proposed frequency? 2 pw?
also, how seasonal is the amrket. Im not too confident they can sustain B744 ops year round...

Quoting JohnKrist (Reply 15): But, I welcome 747's in Scandinavian airports, far to few of them
You say that but i was at CPH on Saturday and there were 4 744s on the tarmac... a Thai 744, two Pulmantur (is that how it's spelt and what airline is that?) 744s and a Korean 744F at the cargo apron.... crazy!
Plus i noticed once of the ex-SAS Q400s has a Philipeno registration now..

Good luck flying 'Crappy Airline'.
It would probably work seasonal, but year round? ..doubt it! ..good luck to them also.
Next flights: CPH-BRU (Ba146), BRU-CPH (A321)
26 Debonair: Well, rumors were in the pipe that Krabi would start with B747-300, leased from Phuket Air. Phuket Air re-startet last year Hadj-ops for Saudian and
27 Finnaviation: This Krabi Airline must be a joke.
28 Spud757: Direct isn't the same as non-stop flight. Direct implies there will be a stop to re-fuel but no need to change aircraft.
29 Shankly: Part of the reason I love this site. Only an airliners.netter would be concerned that a marketing picture showed inconsistent series CF6 engines. To
30 NewYorkCityBoi: what are they thinking?? I can not see this last long Why dont they just make it a chater-flight carrier connect Scandinavian/German cities for winter
31 Denverdanny: I'd rather fly Krabi than Stingee. I can deal with the attitudes of the flight attendants and gate crew on Krabi. It's the small portions of food and
32 DYflyer: With 150.000 Norwegians visiting Thailand this year i think this is one of the few direct IC routes that could work from OSL. How serious and attract
33 Airevents: Talked to a person directly involved in getting the airline off the ground. From what I heard there about the personell / management of the airline it
34 EBGflyer: I agree there is a market, but all Norwegians don't obviously come from OSL. A lot would have to connect and then this become a totally different dea
35 DenverDanny: I forget the program I was watching, maybe it was on PBS, but migrant workers from Thailand and SE Asia fly to Scandinavia to pick berries. Apparently
36 Mortyman: Just to make clear, the airline will have 2 flights from Oslo pr. week year round. In other words not every day.
