This afternoon, a Beechcraft King Air C90B (PT-PAC) aborted take-off at São Paulo (CGH). The attempt, although, wasn't sucessful, since the plane couldn't stop before the end of the runway. Looks like nobody got hurt...

Seems that the pilot tried to abort tak-off after V1...

What most scares me is that, I'm frequently on the point/street right above were the plane sttoped sppotting... I was wondering if I was there...

There are already photos on A.net database of the incident...

Last Update, Information got on the TV news:
Happened that left engine sttoped just after take off and the pilot decided to abort... With only the right engine running, the plane pushed to the left...

Wow, the nose landing gear sure looks "interesting"!

Is that not the same direction the TAM jet passed over and then across Washington Luis? I just keep wondering when they'll call for the closure of this airport. Congonhas is surrounded by apartments, businesses, homes (mine close enough). But the government is spending millions modernizing CGH.

All that said, thank God everyone was okay. I missed seeing this by 30".

Yes, it is... Although this time it was not CGH problem/restrictions that caused the almost "runaway-rit"... With the info we have now, the mistake came from the pilot.

Agree that CGH is not the safest airport, although it is still necessary.. Unless another airport, with good/fast links to Sao Paulo's South Zone is built, CGH can't stop receiving 737s, A320s and F100s... It would be perfect to have CGH operating regional ATR/EMB/LET and general aviation flights with have a brend new domestic airport... But................................

It's an awesome airport. I love watching, whether driving by or from a bus, the planes so close to the street! I enjoy sitting in my backyard seeing the planes fly over. I don't want it closed either!

They've got to get that EMAS stuff there. This isn't the first time something like this happens. Has anyone seen any evidence of work being done around the airport?

Looking at the pic from the Mexican newspaper, no sign of work!

 no

nothing at all... but it's actually hard to do so... What is really needed is another airport..

Does a King Air 90 use V1, VR, and V2? I've not flown the BE-90 but have flown many other aircraft in its class. They did not use this type of performance criteria. Instead rotation was at Vmc (redline) plus 5 knots and you climbed out initially at Vyse (Blue Line), as with most other light twins. Using this method you do not have a takeoff decision speed so if you have adequate runway remaining you may put the aircraft back down. In this case it would seem that perhaps there was not quite enough runway left but what we don't know is whether or not he could clear terrain ahead. If not, it would appear that he made the right decision.

I could not agree more. EMAS would eliminate much of the safety concern with this airport.

I actually don't know the answer to that.. And you may have a point, but we just have to wait till we have some clear info from the pilot.
