I live in Boulder, about 30 west of KDEN, and often have departing a/c to the west flying over my condo. Tonight at just after 6:30 PM I noted a B744 climbing out. It was right overhead my viewing pisiton, but I believe that the fuselage color was blue (my first thought was KAL or KLM).
I went to FlightAware and found the only B744 departing DEN at that time to be "UA9955".
Does anyone know which airline this ship belongs to? looking at flight history there is a variery of a/c types that have flown this flight number. Is it a US domestic flight?

Looks like a UA ferry flight number. Note that the majority of cities that this flight has gone from or to are UA hubs.
I can't decide whether I miss the tulip or the bowling shoe more

That's easy...United!

9900 Flight numbers are used for repositioning flights, or flights with the same flight number. What I mean, lets say UA flight 955 is in the air at the time of departure for this flight, UA would issue this as a 9955 flight number as Flight 955 is still airborne. Make any sense?

OK, I feel like a moron, we don't often have B744's overhead out of DEN, and the blue fuselage (as it appeared from underneath where most of the ship is silver) made me wonder if it was a Star Alliance carrier.

Quoting Cubsrule (Reply 4): Actually, I think the Broncos took a 763.
Correct, Broncos charter the 763 this year.

Don't feel too bad man, your talking to the guy who loves UA...haha
And also, I lied about the "dual flight number" thing. I was mistaken. Dual flight numbers are issued a letter code, such as UA944 and UA944Q.

bummer, i just noticed on the flightaware link that UA sent a 733 to goodyear on 9/2, anyone know what ship it might have been?
I could have elite status if I wanted it, but flying the same airline all the time is boring.
