To our Singaporean posters or to those familiar with Changi airport, I have a question. My first time to Singapore and unfortunately just passing thru. I'm flying in to Singapore via CX to Terminal 1 arriving at 6:50AM. I need to transfer to Terminal 2 to catch my PR flight which departs at 9:40AM. Do I have enough time to make my connection? I assume Cathay will not transfer my luggage to PAL so do I need to retrieve my luggage and clear Custom/Immigration. Or can I just get my luggage and walk over to T2. What is the best way to get from T1 to T2? I was looking at the information provided by Changi airport and they have a Skytrain and a Walkalator. Which one is better. Thanks for any help in advance.

You have more than enough time to connect to Terminal 2 (via the Skytrains (signs posted above at various locations)).
If CX does not check-through your baggage to PR then you will have to retrive your luggage and clear immigrations.
From T1 to T2, you can either walk or take the Skytrain.

Quoting Singapore_Air (Reply 1): From T1 to T2, you can either walk or take the Skytrain.
You can't walk from T1 to T2 once you clear customs and step into the arrival hall. There's no proper sheltered walkways between the 2 terminals. Passengers should hop onto the sky train for a 1min ride to T2.
However, if you managed to check your bags through to PR, you may stay within the transit area and either walk or take the skytrain between terminals.

You should have plenty of time pending that your flight is on time and if you have to clear customs.
Transiting between T1 and T2 is easy as eating cake, but should your luggage not get checked through you will have to clear customs (customs in singapore isn't really a pain, and is quite quick to get through - just tell them you are transiting through and you shouldn't have any delays).
Since that will take about 45 mins you should be well under the check in window time should you have to collect your bags.
Bottom line is don't dilly dally as you may get caught out, but you SHOULD have enough time.
Good luck to you, and I may see you as I am transiting through at the same time!

Thanks for all the replies. Now I feel confident I can make the connection and keeping my fingers cross that the CX flight is on time out of Colombo.

I have taken CX 710 CMB-SIN many times in the past and it has always been on time or early. Mainly due to long layover of the aircraft in CMB, so even if the inbound flight is delayed, it has no effect on the outbound.

Thanks for the info, Don. That's very reassuring. Will this be the same A/C that flew in the night before from SIN or is it coming somewhere else?

As you can see from the schedule below, it is the same aircraft. But I have to correct my previous post because looking at the new schedule, it has only 1.5 hrs transit in CMB now compared to the 4-5 hours in the past. But you should have no problem for your connection.
CX 711 SIN 21:30 CMB 22:45 773 0 1-3-56- 03:45
CX 710 CMB 00:15 SIN 06:50 EQV 0 -2-4-67 04:05
