Hello guys, this is my 1st thread. This pure speculation based on the product provided by both airlines. Do you think Air Canada and Delta Airlines are planning to codeshare and be partners? They both have the new Executive/First Class seats that look identical. The economy cabin looks the same with the blue seating and AVOD. AC is also going to provide Air Cell Gogo inflight wifi like DL. Like said before this is my own speculation based on both carries product.

I doubt it since they are in different alliances. UA would not be happy with AC since they are a major partner.

I doubt it. Similar on-board amenities does not mean they are going to be partners. I think UA covers AC pretty well for what they need.

AC (Air Canada) already has two and soon to be 3 US carriers via the Star Alliance.   Also DL is in SkyTeam which is a rival alliance.
Product means very little when it comes to this kind of stuff.

I doubt it. DL and AC don't really offer much of anything to each other and AC is already a codeshare partner with UA. By the way, it's Delta "Air Lines," two words. Hate to correct people, but hey...

Hi and welcome to A.net. always happy to see new people and their oppinions.
I doubt that AC and DL will join forces, because they are both really in to their respective alliances and are founding members. the fact that their products a alike and that their bases would really complement eachother don't play as big a role as that of the cooperation between AC and UA, whom are really fond of eachother

Just my two cents but a couple years ago, I was kind of imagining something similar to your post. The reason was that Delta used to contract out its B767 maintenance to ACE aviation and you saw them pretty frequently at the YVR hangar so I thought it could lead to some sort of cooperation amongst the two although it wouldn't be codeshare.

But then the Canadian dollar got strong against the US, Delta contracted the work out to HAECO instead of ACE and then that partnership died down. So I would bet that they are moving further and further away from one another.

BTW, welcome to a.net!!!!

Some years ago, DL and AC did in fact announce that they would be entering into a codeshare relationship however nothing ever came of it.

If I recall correctly, when AC bought out Canadian Airlines in 1999, the plan was to operate CP as a separate company. CP would have been free to persue any deals with other airlines, and I believe they were close to setting something up with Delta. However, within a year AC/CP were already prettty much merged into one airline and the Delta agreement became a moot point.
