Kelowna Flightcraft DC-10's At YHM

Today another DC-10-30/F arrived here at YHM - N949PL. Similar to the other one ( N811SL -arrived a few days ago) the a/c is all white without any titles. Kelowna Flightcraft is working on the plane - therefore my guess is that these will be the Purolator planes in the future.
Does anybody have more details? N949PL arrived from Lima - former identity?

I read somewhere that one of the ex DAS airframes is going to Kelowna. I cannot remember the registration involved. I wonder if this is the one.

Well, my neighbour is a pilot for Kelowna and he didn't know what the assignment of the DC-10 would be but he did say their CEO was pretty shrewd when it came to business decisions.

Not likely. Probably not even for maintenance. Try YHM and the major domestic hubs.

Looks like one of the runs will be YVR - YHM for cargo and will take out a couple of the old 727's that have been doing the run for years.

The two DC-10's will be flying between YVR and YHM for Canada Post, these a/c will not be taking work away from the purolator 727's for the time being

Do you know if the aircraft are being painted in Purolator colors, or the plain boring white with a KF on the tail??

Will be great to see a DC10 here in YVR!! Hopefully not at the expense of the 727's though

Today N811SL was re-registed to C-GKFA - Owner Kelowna Flightcraft Charter
Still in all white c/s - no titles (same as for N949PL)

For now they are going to be all white with no logos. I doubt they will be ever painted in Purolator colours as they are flying for Canada Post.

Hmmm, maybe this explains the all white 727 I saw parked on the YOW ramp, where the Purolator aircraft usually parks. Could they be going to an all white scheme for all aircraft?

This must be C-GWKF - this a/c never had Purolator c/s. The aircraft is also used for subcontract-work (flying for Cubana Cargo/Flair Air and others)

Canada Post c/s on the DC-10's would be great! Please don't keep them all white!

Saw it on approach into YWG this afternoon - still in a plain white livery, with no decals applied that I could see.

Nice to see a new type for Kelowna Flightcraft. It looks like she had a technical issue as it tried to depart Winnipeg for Calgary (number 2 engine).

Here are some photos. Registration is C-GKFA, FIN number is 101, hence the flight number.

Love the DC-10 in any colour. I am just up the road from Hamilton. What would be the best time of day to slide by to see the 10s at YHM?

Doesn't Canada Post Own Purolator anyway?

Regardless lots of Widebodies at YHM these Days 767 with CJ and the DC-10s at KF in addition to CJ 757 and the usuallty UPS DC-8 and the Globespan 757.

Seen the one DC-10 it was on the west side of the KF ramp by the parking lot. Hope they park it in a differant location once they start scheduled flights.

So was Canada Post previously (and currently, for that matter) using the Puro 727 fleet to move mail? Does this DC-10 addition mean a reduction in the 13-strong 727 fleet that KFC has in service supporting Purolator (and presumably Canada Post).

Quoting Fly_yhm (Reply 22):

Canada Post owns about 94% of Purolator. For all intents and purposes, Purolator is a government-owned courier service run by Canada Post.

Panam, TWA, Ansett, Eastern.......AC next? Might be good for Canada.

Saw it parked over at the Purolator depot at YVR today. Loading up around 4:30 so straight into service with no paint job.

25 Robsawatsky : According to my KF pilot neighbour, Purolator carries some Canada Post.

28 YVRLTN : The 727's are carrying on with the existing Purolator work. The 10's have been brought in to take over the Canada Post contract lost by AC. Seems the
