Delta will add an additonal seasonal round-trip between New York City (JFK) to Santo Domingo (SDQ) this winter. Flights will operate daily (on some days double daily) between 19 December and 03 January. Equipment type is 757-200.
Additionally, a Saturday-only flight between Boston (BOS) and Sarasota (SRQ) will be operated between 14 February and 25 April. Equipment type will be MD-88.

Ugh...how come DL can never give us daily BOS service? Better than nothing I guess.

Looks like it's a red-eye JFK-SDQ (leaving 11:30pm, arr SDQ 4:45am) and a return out of SDQ at 5:45am, into JFK at 9:05am. SDQ needs all the seats it can possibly get during this period as even AA has reduced its offering to just one daily 763 (from multiple AB6s a day).

That's something I wonder myself. SRQ is close to other Florida airports, like TPA. Maybe they are expecting B6 to enter or for FL to return, although they didn't do too well on it.

I take it the October schedules have been posted...
Time to see how many flight times have changed (given that I'm flying weekly from October to early December).

Alot of people like to fly into SRQ instead of TPA/PIE or RSW. It is an easier airport to park and get around even durning peak times. My grandparents lived in the area and it was easier for me to fly into/out of SRQ then having to drive to TPA. That area is retirement city area and alot of money lives in that area.

look for daily service in 2010 or 2011 if the Red Sox move spring training from Ft Myers to Sarasota

The shuttle configuration is being eliminated. All M80s will be two classes in the future.

I disagree, look up the number of people who live in NE and own a second home in the Ft Myers area. Then compare that to Tampa or Sarasota, or any other city in FL. The Red Sox nation follows its team.

It would in the month of February between BOS and SRQ if the Red Sox move spring training there. Between the regular snowbirds and the craziness of Red Sox fans, it would fill up planes.
Of course, the real question is, would it be profitable (ie at a sustainable yield).

Really?
When was this put out? What's the estimated timeline?
